The Simple Life, Sunset Tan: Blonde, Ditzy Episode Guides Live

At least the E! channel knows where its reality TV bread is buttered: via spoiled, shallow, beautiful people. At least on Monday nights.

Case in point: the season premieres of two shows last night, The Simple Life and Sunset Tan.

Camp Life

The former, of course, stars Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. Someone actually made them camp counselors this year. Check out the episode guide right now and see what a great idea this was.

As for Sunset Tan, the show introduced us to Holly and Molly, a pair of marketing gals who make Paris and Nicole seem insightful. Still, they are entertaining. Read about them and the rest of the cast in that show recap.

Paris and Nicole Dish on The Simple Life

They're back!

Thin. Headed to jail. And as spoiled as ever - but Paris and Nicole are back for The Simple Life. They sat down with TV Guide before the season premiere:

TV Guide: Have either of you ever been to camp before?
Paris Hilton: I went to camp for one day and I hated it.

TV Guide: How did you prepare for this edition of Simple Life?
Paris: We didn't. We just went in as how we are â€" two best friends. All the adventures we go on on the show are things we've never done before. It was neat to get to experience that.

Nicole and Paris TV Guide: With the five different theme camps, did either of you excel in any activity, over the other one?
Paris: We didn't really think about it, we just did it.

TV Guide: But in pageant camp, did you, like, teach the campers runway secrets?
Nicole Richie: They actually taught us. This one 5-year-old knew way more about makeup and hair and everything than I did. But I taught them how to give the finger.

TV Guide: How did that go over?
Nicole: Not that well.

TV Guide: What were the age ranges of the campers?
Nicole: From 5 to 50.
Paris: Oh, older than that. There was a 70-year-old couple.

TV Guide: Did you learn anything from the assorted experts?
Nicole: Yeah. The experts really knew what they were doing. In Survival Camp, [former Green Beret Myke Hawke] sliced his finger open, he'd had stitches and they'd come undone. I'm a huge Grey's Anatomy fan so I was like, "Oh, can I redo your stitches?" He let me do them.

TV Guide: Did you learn that during your plastic-surgery rotation on the season where you were interns?
Nicole: Oh, I didn't even think about that.

TV Guide: Did you learn anything new about each other during the camp situations?
Nicole: I don't think there's anything else to learn, we've known each other for so long. We've taken trips together since we were babies.
Paris: We know everything about each other.
Nicole: It was great just to catch up on lost time and be together and have that time away from Los Angeles and everything, and be alone.

The Simple Life Whirlwind Media Tour: Behind Bars?

With the next installment of The Simple Life set to premiere May 28, the publicity machine for Paris and Nicole should be hitting overdrive.

Sort of. What do you do when the star of your show is set to go to jail the day before you're booked on David Letterman? Nothing, apparently!

Paris and Nicole are booked to guest on The Late Show June 6, just one day after Paris has been ordered to wear an orange jumpsuit.

The celebrity gossip site TMZ says Hilton is still confirmed for a media tour and other press interviews in the days following Letterman.

The Simple Prison Life

It might be hard to hear Paris Hilton from behind plexiglass. Oh snap!

When asked, rep for Nicole Richie had no comment and Paris' rep, who she's blamed for her whole jail snafu, could not be reached.

The Simple Life Diva: Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie Paris Hilton has always been the prime prima donna on the set of E!'s The Simple Life ... until now.

Sources on set tell celebrity gossip blog TMZ that this time around, Nicole Richie got all divalicious during taping of the show's fifth season.

During the shoot, we're told Nicole pulled a Lindsay Lohan, constantly showing up late. She also upped her spoiled behavior to another level during the final shoot of the season, when the all-important "show open" was being taped.

Richie turned up "several hours late" with boyfriend Joel Madden, and then gave producers another impossible deadline. After a serious blow-out argument, we're told producers had to call her agents just to get her to stay on-set.

Who knows where she went, but we're guessing it wasn't to eat a meal. The newest season of The Simple Life, meanwhile, premieres May 28.

The Simple Life Gets Racist

Paris Hilton is off to jail. So she may have larger issues at the moment than future accusations of racism.

The Simple Racist Life But TMZ has learned that an upcoming episode of the Paris and Nicole Richie's reality show features actress/fashionista Sally Kirkland playing the socialites' Camp Shawnee acting coach - and was made to look like Nicole's father, Lionel Richie - in full on blackface and an afro!

Obviously a winning idea.

Sources say it was Richie who somehow talked Kirkland into donning the controversial getup after the two got into a shouting match when Nicole wouldn't perform Shakespeare. TMZ spies say the taping was simultaneously "frightening and hysterically funny."

A rep for The Simple Life had no comment. The Simple Life Goes to Camp premieres May 28 on E!

The Simple Life Goes to Camp in May

E! has announced the premiere of The Simple Life's fifth season, which will follow reunited best friends Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie as they work as counselors at five different camps over the course of five weeks.

The Simple Life Titled The Simple Life Goes to Camp, the fifth season of the reality series is scheduled to premiere on Memorial Day -- Monday, May 28 at 10PM ET/PT -- before moving to its regular time period of Sundays at 10PM ET/PT the following week.

The five camps the 26-year-old hotel heiress and 25-year-old daughter of Lionel Richie will attend are definitely not the traditional summer institutions kids normally enjoy. Instead, the fifth installment of The Simple Life will find Hilton and Richie working at a couples camp, drama camp, survival camp, beauty pageant camp and wellness camp.

"All the camps were completely different. We would have to do all the challenges that [the campers] would have to do. We had to stay with them in the same rooms, so basically we were living the camp life," Hilton said. "It was hard, you know, not having cell phone service, being away from our friends and our family, but we had each other, so that was a lot of fun."

The wellness camp Richie and Hilton worked at was overseen by fitness guru Susan Powter, who made sure the spoiled cebts were treated the same as all of her other staff members.

"We gave the campers enemas," Richie told Reuters. "We did it outside, so that was a lot of fun. It probably wasn't that fun for [the campers], but it was definitely interesting. It was something that I never thought I would do before."

Chris Alexander, a spokesman for The Simple Life's producer 20th Century Fox Television, said that Powter ordered the enemas because "she believes the first step in wellness is cleaning yourself out."

"You'll see it on camera," Alexander said. "It's probably a 10-minute sequence, which according to the producer of the show will have you on the floor laughing."

Or being totally, completely grossed out.
