Reality TV Recaps: Survivor, Step It Up and Dance

Due tot he return of Lost and Grey's Anatomy last night, we understand why many viewers missed out on a couple of reality shows that aired. But that's why we're here!

Let's recap them now...

Survivor: Tonight's Survivor Auction was similar to ones we've seen in the past. They received wallets with $500 to spend on covered dishes. Most of the dishes were good things, but a few were booby prizes... -- TV Squad

James, Survivor

Step It Up and Dance: All the dancers are anxious to see what the next challenge is and are told to go to the theater. Step It Up And Dance Contestant: His Gay Porn Past

On his official Step It Up and Dance bio, Mike says his motto is: "Life is my canvas, the beat is my soul, crank it up and watch me roll."

We're not sure how that applies to life in the world of gay porn - but we are sure that this hopeful dancer knows a thing or two about that world.

Celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton has uncovered some extraordinarily racy pics of the dancer, all of which you can view here (probably not safe for work).

Someone give Mike the number of Tonya Cooley. They probably have a lot in common.

James Alsop Speaks on Stepping It Up and Dancing

james-interview.jpg James Alsop was eliminated this week on Step It Up and Dance. Our pals at BuddyTV asked the dancer about his experience on Bravo's latest reality competition:

What were your first impressions of the other dancers when you first met them?
When I first met the other dancers, I kind of was sizing them up.  I was like, "Oh, the way so-and-so was dressed, this is probably what kind of dance they do."  But I wasn't really seeing it as a competition.  I was just trying to find the weakest link, I guess. to see who can be preyed on first.

What advice would you give to other aspiring dancers?

Do not let this industry beat you down.  I've been here for a year and a half, almost two years, and I still haven't had grand success, but that's because I'm still putting in my time.  You have to put in your time.  Like, the dancers who really book live in Los Angeles for like four to five years and that's when they start to get recognized.

So just be patient and make sure you're ready for all aspects of it, the horrible aspects, the great aspects, the in-between aspects.  You have to be focused and not let it get you down.  It's such a mental game.  But just be ready.

Reality TV Recaps: Survivor, Step It Up and Dance

We haven't recovered yet from the shock of Michael Johns being eliminated last night on American Idol.

But we're professionals. We'll focus on the job at hand and recap a pair of other reality shows that were on, one a mainstay of the genre, another a newbie...

Survivor: Malakal arrived back at camp after voting Ami out. Ozzy said he never would have voted against her if she would have been truthful to him. Erik, on the other hand, was thrilled to still be there. He was the last fan remaining on that tribe and was hoping the merge would come soon. He was right on... -- Reality TV Magazine

Step It Up and Dance: The dancers are instructed to don their most provocative dancewear and get ready to leave in a half hour. They pull up to the King King club where Elizabeth Berkley and Jerry Mitchell greet them. There the dancers get to watch L'Effleur des Sens, a French-style cabaret dance troupe. .. -- Buddy TV

Adriana Speaks on Step It Up And Dance Elimination

Adriana Falcon became the first dancer to be sent home by the judges on Bravo's newest reality show, Step It Up and Dance.

Adriana, Step It Up and DanceBelow, she speaks to BuddyTV about the experience:

What were some of your first impressions of some of the other dancers?
I realized, doing the show, that I make quick judgments about people. So, I had really strong opinions about a few. Let's see, I thought Oscar [Campisi] was a little bit standoffish, but I learned throughout the show that he's actually a great person.

A lot of the dancers from L.A. seemed to have really strong personalities, which I thought was a little bit different from the New York dancers. The New York dancers, myself included, had a little bit more of a chill vibe. You know, we didn't put it out there as much as I thought the L.A. people did.

And how do you think your dance abilities compared to those of the others?
I really respect everyone in the cast and what they brought, because everybody brought something really different. And so, I thought I did the same. My technique is strong and was on the show, and I thought I brought that. And I brought a little flavor as well.

You know, when you're in an environment like that, it's a competition. We didn't know what to expect, so it was a learning process. I think that my castmates are very talented and I think I stood strong up there with them.
