Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have left the island.

The Hills stars officially bailed on I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here - even after they were welcomed back into the competition Monday night.

Heidi was hospitalized Saturday after a night in the shack, setting off a war of words between Spencer (threatening to sue), NBC (threatening to sue Speidi right back), Stephanie Pratt (who says Heidi was tortured for 72 hours), Speidi's publicist (who says no torture occurred) and the rest of the cast (utterly clueless).

But the twosome was nonetheless granted a second chance allowed to return to the series ... if only to depart yet again, and this time for good.

Last week, Heidi came down with intense stomach pain and started vomiting and was hospitalized after spending a night in the show's "Lost chamber."

"I threw up at least 10, 15 times last night," said the ailing Heidi Montag, who was treated for a gastric issue of some sort before being released.

Despite the drama, their fellow cast members allowed them to return. But later in the episode, I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here camp leader Lou Diamond Phillips informed his fellow celebrities that Speidi would not be back.

"They are no longer a part of this competition," he said. "They are gone."

Calling it the "best decision of their lives," Spencer Pratt confirmed they are leaving for good, and that it was the "best decision" of their lives.

"We gave it our all in the competition," he said. "Now, it's about our health. At the end of the day, we went back and proved it wasn't about us."

Heidi's sister, Holly Montag, will be replacing them now, obviously.

Just days after whining and begging to be set free, Heidi and Spencer Pratt are begging for forgiveness on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.

After quitting and then changing their minds, the duo made a hilarious mea culpa from the jungle live last night. Will their wish be granted?

"We realized that we made a big mistake and that the devil got to us and said, 'Get out of the jungle," Heidi Montag explained. "[But] it's not even about us. It's about the charity, and it's about the experience here."

Added Spencer Pratt: "It took us getting out of the situation to realize that we had lost our mind. They should have brought out the straitjacket!"

"We're pleading insanity!" chimed in Heidi.

Get Them Back in Here: Speidi Apology

The title of their second reality TV foray, I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, turned out to be almost the exact reaction of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.

A source says that The Hills duo walked off the set for good after last night's season premiere. It is unclear how the program will handle their departure.

Despite the fact that the show revolves around this simple, humorous concept, The Hills stars apparently didn’t realize that they were going to be dropped in the jungle and forced to compete in audience-picked challenges.

An insider also says Spencer and Heidi quit because they displeased with the caliber of stars on the show, calling them “not famous” and “nobodies.”

While this is an absurd remark, you can't argue that Speidi is better known than John Salley, Frangella, Patti Blagojevich and the rest of the show's cast.

An NBC vice president flew down to Costa Rica to plead with the couple to stay, but it was to no avail. Guess some things are just not meant to be.

As season five of The Hills concluded last night, Lauren Conrad found herself upstaged on what was to be her final episode on her hit reality series.

And not even by the Speidi wedding, which she reluctantly decided to attend after much waffling, and possibly encouragement from the producers.

It was the return of Kristin Cavallari - whose catching the bouquet tossed by Heidi Montag symbolized the torch being passed - that stole the show.

Literally, it turns out, from former rival Lauren Conrad.

As season five of The Hills builds towards its dramatic conclusion, Heidi Montag begged Lauren Conrad to attend her fairy tale wedding to Spencer Pratt.

Did she reconsider her initial objections?

Groomzilla and Barbie aside, Stephanie Pratt ran into Kelly Cutrone and once again refused to take any responsibility for her actions. Girl is not smart.

A face only Heidi Montag could love.

Tonight on The Hills, the preparations are in full swing for Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag's wedding. But Heidi is still hung up on the subject of Lauren Conrad and whether she will attend. In other words, LC does not want to.

Heidi Montag asks Spencer Pratt if he will be the bigger person and apologize to Lauren, thus ending their feud and clearing the way for her to attend.

His response, simply, is that he is not the bigger person.

Hey, at least he's honest. You have to give him that.

The Hills Preview: May 25, 2009

Another week, a lot more Stephanie-related drama in The Hills.

The annoying sister of Spencer managed to get fired at work and strung along by a musician, as we actually turned to Speidi in hopes of more entertaining story lines. They delivered, as her dad, Bill, came to town.

Bill's a no-nonsense cowboy who joked multiple times about killing Spencer. In the end, though, he warmed to Heidi's beau and they got engaged.

It's just another week in The Hills.

The shoe was on the other foot for Justin-Bobby as the loser freaked about Audrina hooking up with Brody, while Lauren Conrad's move of hiring Stephanie Pratt at work backfired as she revealed herself as completely incompetent.

Meanwhile, in Speidi-land, Heidi took it upon herself to dress like a cheap whore and "fix" Spencer's "problem." That being Stacie the bartender.

Last night, Audrina Patridge incurred the wrath of Jayde Nicole over her Hawaiian hookup with Brody Jenner. Needless to say, a pair of cat fights didn't end well.

Meanwhile, Heidi Montag intercepted a text from bartender Staci on Spencer Pratt's phone and decided to do something about it. That didn't end well, either.

Playmates do bring the drama, as LC stated ... and Brody may have gotten a little enjoyment over Jayde and Audrina fighting over him. As for Spencer Pratt?

Audrina Patridge and Jayde Nicole really went at it last night on The Hills. Unfortunately, not in the way you would probably have liked.

Last night on The Hills, Brody Jenner and Audrina Patridge hooked up randomly in Hawaii. This is one of the first times ever we did not see something coming.

After all, spoilers leak on this show like a sieve. But thousands of miles away in the Pacific paradise, feelings are feelings and we were totally the last to know.

Plenty of drama this week - even by Hills standards - and also a good number of bikini / shirtless shots and vintage Spencer Pratt comments to go around.
