Crosby Loggins Wins Rock the Cradle!

MTV viewers actually got it right last night.

They voted Crosby Loggins the winner of Rock the Cradle. As the only contestant on this show with actual talent, Kenny Loggins’ son deserved the title.

Here he is, celebrating the victory with his own original song, “Good Enough.”

Rock the Cradle Episode Guide: The Judges Pick

While Rock the Cradle has obviously been replaced by Farmer Wants a Wife as the most exciting new reality show on TV, we’re still reviewing the former in detail.

Here’s a shot of insane singer Chloe Lattanzi during last night’s episode, during which the judges chose songs for the contestants to sing.

Rock the Cradle Featured in The Boston Globe

Landon Brown Picture Is music in the genes?

That’s the questioned posed by The Boston Globe, in relation to Rock the Cradle. Here are other highlights from the article:

We can answer the question above in three words: Frank Sinatra Jr. Or two: Carnie Wilson.

Apples fall far, far from the tree when it comes to musical talent, which for better or worse is one reason why MTV’s Rock the Cradle is such a winning reality-show recipe.

The program pits the progeny of famous artists both credible (Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh) and C-list (Al B. Sure!) against each other in a weekly singing competition, and suffice it to say the cringe factor - the basis of any reality show worth its morally perverse salt - is hefty.

But somehow it’s more gripping watching Eddie Money’s pampered spawn Jesse blow a song (and get chewed out on camera by her dad) than some poor shlub from nowheresville on American Idol.

When Landon Brown (pictured) received low scores from the judges during the show’s April 3 debut, his father, Bobby, didn’t protest.

Rock the Cradle Recap: The Parents Pick

On the second episode of Rock the Cradle, the contestants’ famous parents chose songs for them. We still haven’t gotten over the fact that MC Hammer didn’t make A’Keiba Burrell rap to “U Can’t Touch This.”

Also, a contestant was voted off the show. Who was it? Check out our full Rock the Cradle recap now to find out!

After her performance last week earned raves from the judges, Lucy Walsh wasn’t eligible to be eliminated this week. But she still sang on the show.

Rock the Cradle Premieres, Episode Guide Live

Yes, we’re gonna cover the new MTV reality show, Rock the Cradle, in depth. How can we resist this American Idol rip-off that pits D-list celebrity offspring against one another?

On last night’s premiere, viewers were treated to a quasi Behind the Music episode, as a great deal of time was spent detailing the careers of Dee Snyder, Olivia Newton-John and other singing parents. Then, the kids took the stage.

And A’Keiba Burrell-Hammer (pictured below, daughter of MC Hammer), at least didn’t suck.

On the night, though, Lucy Walsh earned the highest marks. What else went down? Check it out now in our Rock the Cradle recap. Also, click on the images below from the premiere now for larger versions…

Rock the Cradle Debuts Tonight!

Rock the Cradle turns American Idol on its head.

While the latter show takes unknown singers and makes them famous, the former takes the offspring of those already well-known and puts them in the spotlight. Like Landon Brown, son of Bobby Brown.

Each week, the singers will rehearse songs (including a parent’s hit), perform live before a studio audience, hear from judges and await a viewer vote to win $100,000, a record contract and a Vegas gig.

Rock the Cradle premieres tonight on MTV at 10 p.m.
