Reality TV Recaps: The Paper, Flavor of Love

We've already summarized last night's Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor episodes in full. Scroll down the site to read through those guides.

Meanwhile, here are two more reality TV episode guides from last night. A pair of contrasting shows were on the air...

The Paper: The series premiere introduced four juniors all aspiring to be editor-in-chief. Amanda the Copy Editor is a ruthless pursuer of power, the kind of person who thinks she knows better than everyone else. Alex, the Sports Editor, is far more reasonable, though coming from the sports world, he is likely stuck in that wheelhouse... -- BuddyTV

Flavor of Love: As this episode begins, Flavor Flav is lamenting the realization that, sooner or later, he will have to dump one of the twins. Meanwhile, Prototype is nervous about Flavor Flav's reckless drinking (meaning she's not long for this show) and Seezinz, for reasons untold, says she is withdrawing herself from the next challenge... Joey Fatone and Melanie Brown to Team Up for The Singing Office

Joey Fatone and Melanie Brown can't get enough of reality TV. Either that, or they can't find any other work.

Regardless of the reasons, the former Dancing with the Stars contestants will host a new show this summer, The Singing Office set to air on TLC. It will pit office workers against one another in a battle of vocal ability.

Joey Fatone, Melanie Brown

The Singing Office will surprise two workplaces, giving workers there on-the-spot auditions. Fatone and Brown will then choose the five best singers from each office and send them off for vocal and dance training. After the singers have been trained, they will come back to compete against one another in front of a studio audience.

Scary Spice has told reporters that the show is not meant to be a competitor of American Idol or Dancing with the Stars, claiming that The Singing Office is "not a serious competition."

No definite premiere date has been set for the show, though word is it will hit the airwaves in late June. Meanwhile, viewers will get to see the two hosts at the Dancing with the Stars reunion show, which is set to air May 6 in celebration of the show's 100th episode.

Reality TV Recaps: Survivor, Step It Up and Dance

We haven't recovered yet from the shock of Michael Johns being eliminated last night on American Idol.

But we're professionals. We'll focus on the job at hand and recap a pair of other reality shows that were on, one a mainstay of the genre, another a newbie...

Survivor: Malakal arrived back at camp after voting Ami out. Ozzy said he never would have voted against her if she would have been truthful to him. Erik, on the other hand, was thrilled to still be there. He was the last fan remaining on that tribe and was hoping the merge would come soon. He was right on... -- Reality TV Magazine

Step It Up and Dance: The dancers are instructed to don their most provocative dancewear and get ready to leave in a half hour. They pull up to the King King club where Elizabeth Berkley and Jerry Mitchell greet them. There the dancers get to watch L'Effleur des Sens, a French-style cabaret dance troupe. .. -- Buddy TV

Reality TV Recaps: Hell's Kitchen, The Biggest Loser, Big Brother

While American Idol finalists attempted to inspire last night, a trio of other reality shows didn't aim nealtly as high. Their goal, instead? High ratings. Here's are a few recaps...

Hell's Kitchen: We have the ceremonial lighting of the millions of fires and spotlights that festoon the outside of Hell's Kitchen itself, making it as bright as the sun. But there's no time to speculate on their moth problem because we have to get the extremely short introductions... Television Without Pity

The Biggest Loser: On tonight's episode of The Biggest Loser, the final four contestants flew back to the campus from Australia but had to work out without their trainers. Pamela Anderson Reality Show, Apocalypse Set for Summer

Pamela Anderson PhotoWe suppose we should give Pamela Anderson props for no longer attempting to act. After all, we did see Superhero Movie.

Still, the only time this Baywatch star should be on our TV is during her sex tape.

Instead, the large-breasted actress will appear in "observational documentary" series â€" tentatively titled Pamela â€" set to debut this summer on E!.

According to a network release:

"Viewers will get to know the real woman behind the famous breasts and follow Pam as she tries to juggle love, career and peace of mind. Going beyond the fame and fortune, this is Pam at her core, living her life with no regrets."

Fortunately, the series will feature only Anderson, not her children, which is a welcome contrast to another E! show, which stars Denise "I'm an awful person" Richards and her two daughters.

Let us know: Will you watch a reality show starring Pamela Anderson?

The Hills Examined in The Boston Globe

Continuing its spring run, The Hills airs all-new episode tonight. The Boston Globe's Joanna Weiss recently took a look at this cultural phenomenon ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I still remember the first time I stumbled on The Hills, and how confused I was.
It couldn't be scripted, since the dialogue was simply awful and the cast members could barely deliver lines. But it couldn't be a reality TV show, because the scenes played out a little too perfectly. Cameras always happened to be rolling when the phone rang or the meaningful text message arrived.
It is, of course, a reality show, but a strangely innovative one.
Lauren Conrad and her friends in Los Angeles might replay scenes they've already lived through, or make carefully timed entrances into rooms so the cameras can get the right angle, but they never give a hint that they're being filmed.
The Hills, a coming-of-age follow-up to Laguna Beach, drops the pretense of the confessional and sense of manufactured conflict in favor of a new charade:
Pretending cameras aren't there.
Lauren and Whitney: Paris Bound!
The Hills' Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port.
Love it or hate it, reality TV or scripted drama, The Hills is an unmitigated MTV hit, and not just among America's 'tweens or the college crowd.
John McCain, who won an endorsement from Heidi Montag, told Time magazine he never misses the show, and it's hard to tell if he was kidding.
The first of the current eight-episode run of spring "bonus" installments of The Hills drew 4.8 million viewers, the show's highest ratings to date.
Reality TV Recaps: That's Amore, Rock of Love, Big Brother
A pair of absurd dating shows and a reality show mainstay graced television screens last night. Here's a look at what went down on each...
That's Amore: Domenico takes the two girls to Italy, but sadly, Ashley McNeely is left behind. Once they arrive at Domenico's village, the girls are a bit disillusioned to see that he lives in a tiny village out of a bad movie. -- Buddy TV
This is Amore
Rock of Love: The three girls returned to an empty house and were forced to do some cleaning because guests were arriving. Then the fateful moment when the doorbell rings occurred, it wasn't an ex of Bret's, though, the families came! -- Celebrity Cafe
Big Brother: After Adam won Head Of Household, he said he felt much more confident in his abilities with the power this time around. Natalie claimed yet again that she had a dream that Adam would win HOH, saying it's almost like God is talking to her. Well okay then.-- Reality TV Magazine
No More Reality TV Shows For Kristin Cavallari
Former Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari is done with reality TV. Which will not stop us from talking about her here at the Scoop, not to worry.
Still, Kristin says the small screen days are totally behind her, so don't expect to see any cameos from her on The Hills ... or 22 and Taken.
Cavallari told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview:
"I have been asked to come back by MTV a million times to be on The Hills or Laguna Beach or to do a different reality show, but I am not interested. I am doing what I want to do so I don't feel pressure to go back. I keep getting jobs. I feel like been there, done that. I did Laguna Beach for two years and had the best time. I feel like I need stuff that challenges me and another reality show won't do that."
No More Kristin
So what's Kristin Cavallari been up to instead?
She starred in a music video for Gavin DeGraw, best known for crooning the One Tree Hill theme song. She also shot a short film that Entourage's Kevin Connolly directed that... well, we'll let her describe it herself.
"[It's made up of] nine different short films," KC said. "The whole thing is called Uncomfortable Moments. My short is called Dry Humping. It is about two high school kids, my boyfriend and I, who are dry humping when his dad comes home and catches us in the act. They are all really funny short, goofy films."
Well, okay then!
Kristin Cavallari also is set to appear in a beach volleyball movie opposite David Charvet called Green Flash this summer. She describes that as "definitely not a hard job to go to every day. And I am about to go to Canada to shoot a movie. I can't talk about that yet, though. I'm having a good time!"
Jason Wahler Reality Show Called 22 and Taken
As we told you earlier in the week, Jason Wahler has landed his own reality series on VH1. Brody Jenner is also in talks for a new reality show.
"It'll be the real-life version of Entourage," Jason Wahler, Lauren Conrad's ex-boyfriend, told Life & Style Magazine, speaking publicly about the show.
Wahler: 22 and Taken
Jason Wahler is coming back to reality TV!
The show, called 22 and Taken, will shadow Jason Wahler - who was first famous for Laguna Beach, where he starred along with Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, Stephen Colletti and others - and his fiancée Katja Decker-Sadowski, "and their close circle of friends as they prepare for their eventual wedding," says Jason's rep.
Sounds like can't miss TV. Does anyone really care about Jason Wahler? Then again, we're totally watching Rock the Cradle, so we can't judge.
