Sarah Jessica Parker to Produce a Reality Show

sarah_parker_240x3201.jpg Sarah Jessica Parker hopes to do for artists what Project Runway has done for designers: make them cutthroat.

Parker's production company, Pretty Matches, is joining forces with Magical Elves, the producers of Runway and Top Chef, for a new, as-yet untitled reality series that will pit 12 aspiring artists against each other for the chance to win a gallery show, a cash prize and a sponsored national tour.

Each episode will have hopeful contestants focusing on a specific discipline, such as sculpting, painting or photography. Their efforts will then be critiqued by their on-screen rivals, as well as appraised by a panel of top art world figures.

For now, of course, the actress is finishing up filming for Sex and the City: The Movie.

Premiere Dates Announced for My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad and Amne$ia

NBC has announced the official premiere dates for a pair of new reality competition shows.

After American Gladiators finishes its current run, My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad will premiere on Monday, February 18.

dennis-miller-amnesia.jpg This is seriously the premise: fathers and their respective son/daughter take part in challenges that test dad's strength, intelligence, and how he works together with his kin.

In addition to bragging rights, the winning dad will get money that can be used for his child's future.  The series will be hosted by Dan Cortese.

Also, after the season finale of 1 Vs. 100, Amne$ia (hosted by Dennis Miller, pictured) will premiere on Friday, February 22.

Craig Plestis, Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming, Development and Specials at NBC Entertainment made the announcement.

"If you love the competitive energy of American Gladiators and the outrageous challenges of Fear Factor, you'll love My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad," said Plestis. "Combined with our hilarious new quiz show Amne$ia, viewers aren't going to want to miss this great week of reality premieres."

Ian Ziering to Host Your Mama Don't Dance

Ian Ziering PicLifetime is getting into the reality TV dancing game.

The female-centric network is coming out with Your Mama Don't Dance, a series that pairs 10 young professional dancers with their dance-novice parents. Contestants who thought they'd signed up for a simple dance-off weren't told until this weekend that they were actually in for something completely different.

Beverly Hills, 90210 and Dancing with the Stars alum Ian Ziering (pictured) will host the show, which premieres February 29 and will conclude with a live finale on April 18.

Lifetime Entertainment President Susanne Daniels said she wasn't interested at first in another dance show, but she was drawn to Your Mama Can't Dance's twist.

"It's a dance competition, but it's really about the adult parent/child relationship, and how complex that is," Daniels said. "It's going to be an emotional show. I want people to cry."

Crazy Reality TV Rumor: Another Ashlee Simpson Show on the Way

Considering the source - and idea - of this story, you might wanna take it with a grain of salt bigger than Ashlee Simpson's old nose.

According to OK! Weekly, the young sister's insane father, Joe Simpson, is "pushing" a new I Love New York-like reality dating series starring Ashlee.

"It will put 14 guys in a house and they will compete to date Ashlee," the insider told OK!, adding the show is tentatively titled Lipsync Jungle, a reference to Ashlee's October 2004 Saturday Night Live lip-synching mishap.

ashlee_simpson.jpg

Ashlee's first foray into reality television was Summer 2004's The Ashlee Simpson Show, which aired on MTV immediately following third-season episodes of Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, the reality series starring Ashlee's big sister Jessica and her husband at the time Nick Lachey that worked out so well for them.

Of course, there's a small snafu with this rumored concept: Ashlee has been dating Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz for more than a year, a problem Joe evidently doesn't find too troublesome.

"He wants Ashlee to break-up with Pete," a source said. "[But] no way will Ashlee dump Pete. Ashlee doesn't listen to her father's crazy schemes."
