Jason Mesnick: Molly Malaney Turned Down the Bachelorette For Love

Jason Mesnick couldn't bear the thought of guys fighting over Molly Malaney on The Bachelorette. Fortunately, he never had to shoulder that burden.

In a new interview, Jason says a week after his failed proposal to Melissa Rycroft on The Bachelor, ABC's producers started inquiring about Molly.

"They kept asking me if I thought Molly would be a good Bachelorette," he said. "I realized that I was not willing to have 25 guys fight over her."

Fortunately, Molly turned it down, and Jason got it right the second time, receiving a second chance and getting engaged to Molly last week.

The Bachelor's Molly and Jason got engaged earlier this month.

With the pair committed to marrying, the controversial ending of The Bachelor last season now looks like it was for the best. As for Melissa?

"Melissa is a great girl, but there wasn't any chemistry," Jason says.

Jason also adds that he and Melissa had already split in private, despite what the "After the Final Rose" special showed. But Molly wasn't aware.

The "After the Final Rose" taping that provided a less than ideal, but first possible opportunity to rekindle things with Molly and win her back.

The rest, as they say, is reality TV history.

Jason Mesnick: Engaged to Molly Malaney!

Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney, his second but correct choice on last season's finale of The Bachelor, have gotten engaged, according to reports!

It's a familiar story but one worth repeating here:

On the show's "After the Final Rose" special, Jason had a change of heart, breaking up with Melissa Rycrof and asking Molly for a second chance.

She accepted and they've lived happily ever after (in different cities, taking it slow and out of the limelight) ever since that eventful March day.

Then last week on vacation, Jason got down on one knee in New Zealand, the same place The Bachelor season finale was filmed last winter.

She said yes. It's great to see that Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney are ready to take the next step and make their coupledom a legal affair.

Hopefully on TV for millions of people to see.

Jillian Harris Stays Mum on Hot Tub Hookup

Jillian Harris says her Bachelor hot tub scene with Jason Mesnick made her dad's jaw drop, but she's not going into detail about what happened.

Calling a query regarding that scene "probably the most inappropriate question ever," the new star of The Bachelorette just isn't gonna go there.

"I'm normally a really open girl about these things, but it's one of those things that anybody can assume that if I had a steamy make-out session with Jason and I went in the hot tub that him and I quote-unquote did it," she said.

"And if that's the case, then we can also assume that every Bachelor and Bachelorette in the history of the show has done it with people."

"I think being a 30-year-old grown woman who is successful in her career and has a great background with great morals and values, people can look at me and who I am as a person and they're entitled to their opinion."

Pretty Jillian

The hookup with Jillian was one of three close encounters Mesnick shared with the final competitors on last season's concluding episodes of The Bachelor.

He eventually said goodbye to Harris first, setting up the season finale in which he chose Melissa Rycroft, only to break up with her for Molly Malaney.

Whatever happened in that hot tub - again, she's not gonna talk about it - Jillian Harris harbors no ill will toward Mesnick or the two other girls.

"I honestly think Jason is a really great guy. Even after he let me go last season, I don't feel like he led me on," she said. "He is going through this process to make sure that he makes the right choices and sometimes a good steamy make-out session with somebody can enlighten you."

Jillian Harris also says she has no problem being the creator's third choice for The Bachelorette (behind Melissa Rycroft and Molly Malaney).

"I was a third choice last season. I know what it feels like; I'm comfortable with that," she joked. "Honestly, I'm just a short little hyper quirky Canadian and I actually don't feel like I fit the mold of the Bachelorette very well."

Celebrity Gossip Site: Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney Drifting Apart, Nearing a Split

Reports of Molly Malaney and Jason Mesnick dating and getting to know each other in the aftermath of their epic Bachelor season finale came as a relief for fans of the couple, who seemed glad to return to real life.

But according to one celebrity gossip site, things have slowly gone south between the two - and a breakup may happen as soon as this weekend.

Molly Malaney, 24, is said to be far less enamored of the single father than she once was, and is considering breaking up with him over Easter.

“The more she sees Jason, the less she likes him” a friend reveals.

If they did split, that would make The Bachelor 0-for-13.

The "friend" adds that Molly doesn’t trust Jason Mesnick after dumped Molly on the season finale, then won her back on the "After the Final Rose" special.

“Let’s face it, (Molly) was his second choice,” a second source says of runner-up Molly Malaney and Melissa Rycroft. “He has a history of being fickle.”

It's also rumored that Molly isn’t ready to relocate to Seattle.

“Jason expects her to quit her job and move,” the source says. “Molly’s not giving up her life unless she’s 100 percent sure that he’s committed.”

Right now, the relationship is shaky. The two talk almost every night on the computer, but she hasn’t gone to Seattle to visit Jason since March 3.

“It’s make-or-break time,” the friend explains.

Matt Grant Comments on Jason Mesnick, The Bachelor

It's been nearly a month since Jason Mesnick shocked the world by dumping Melissa Rycroft for Molly Malaney on The Bachelor "After the Final Rose" special.

Jason's Bachelor predecessor, Matt Grant, doesn't approve of the move.

Mesnick's unceremoniously dispatching Rycroft and romancing runner-up Molly while the cameras rolled was not smart, the London native told People.

“This guy kind of committed suicide,” said Grant. “He’s a nice man. I’ve met him quite a few times. But I think he should have gone about it differently.”

Jason and Matt

Jason Mesnick should have handled things differently, Matt Grant thinks - but he admits it took guts for The Bachelor star to do what was right.

Matt Grant, however, does give Mesnick credit for owning up to his mistake early on: “Ultimately, he had the [guts] to say, ‘I screwed up.’”

Grant proposed to Shayne Lamas on The Bachelor but their engagement ended in July of last year. He's now dating his publicist, Sarah Robarts.

Nowadays, Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney continue to date off camera as a jilted Rycroft has become a smash hit on Dancing with the Stars.

Jason Mesnick Debuts New Website

He was labeled heartless and indecisive for dispatching Melissa Rycroft on the "After the Final Rose" special, but The Bachelor star Jason Mesnick has certainly never wavered in his love and pride in being a single parent.

To that end, the boyfriend of Molly Malaney has launched a website to give single moms and dads a repository for all the info and resources they need.

"My goal is for Jason’s Place to become the most trusted place for single parents to come for advice, connections, honesty, and even a laugh," he says.

"Life has led me to a place where I truly want to reach out and share experiences with a group of people that I genuinely relate to and care about."

Jason Mesnick's new website is called Jason's Place.

Molly Malaney & Jason Mesnick: Dating, Grilling Out

In the month since they shocked the world by getting back together after The Bachelor, Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney are getting to know each other.

“Molly and I are happy,” Jason says.

The Bachelor lovebirds spent a few days this month spending time together sans cameras. Seattle-based Jason flew to see her in Milwaukee, where she lives.

They kept busy meeting her friends for drinks, taking romantic strolls along Lake Michigan, and, naturally, doing some “grilling out.”

“I’ve learned new terminology,” Jason Mesnick says, laughing at the Midwestern terminology for barbecuing. “It’s normal, right, to say ‘grilling out’?”

Molly Malaney has been doing some cooking for Jason, while he has been trying to tempt the meat-and-potatoes girl to try new foods at restaurants.

“She really has a hard time trying new things,” he says.

Then again, the dad says he has a hard time keeping to a schedule, something Molly is great at: “We pull each other in the right direction,” he says.

The biggest challenge, of course, is the. Molly hasn’t had a chance yet to fly to Seattle and spend any time with Jason’s four-year-old son, Ty.

“I’m headed out to Seattle in a couple of weeks,” she said. “I’m excited to just spend some time with Ty outside of the cameras and production.”

Sheena Stewart Defends Jason Mesnick

Remember Sheena Stewart?

If so, you may need to get a hobby. But as the editors of this site, we're not ones to criticize. Anyway, she was rejected by Brad Womack on Season 11 of The Bachelor and is now defending embattled star Jason Mesnick.

While many are annoyed at The Bachelor star for his public spurning of Melissa Rycroft and subsequent embracing of Molly Malaney on the recent "After the Final Rose," Stewart is one of the few to defend his change of heart.

This may come as a surprise to many Bachelor fans given that Stewart already got her dose of reality TV agony from that jackass Brad Womack.

She even admitted that her heart felt like “it got ripped in half” after he eliminated her from the competition (as he later did the other girls, too).

On the other hand, Stewart has an idea of what Jason Mesnick is going through “because she knows reality TV makes people do strange things.”

"I give him the benefit of the doubt," Stewart said. "You really do get caught up in the show and in the moment. There's pressure. You're secluded from the outside world. The producers are pushing you to make a decision.  You're tugged in different directions. And viewers see only part of what's going on.”

"I think Jason made both, a genuine mistake, and a genuine decision. I give him props for ultimately doing what he believed was right for him," she added.

We hope this comforts Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney? Even if America as a whole doesn't come around, you've got at least one fan in Sheena Stewart.

Andrew Firestone: Jason Mesnick is an Ass

Former The Bachelor star Andrew Firestone is not buying Jason Mesnick's sob story after dumping fiancee Melissa Rycroft for Molly Malaney.

"If he didn’t have his mind made up, don’t do anything," Firestone said.

"Don’t feel that you are so pressured into having to propose or make a decision. There’s no reason that you have to do anything, especially if you’re so torn that you’re crying like a little girl on that balcony."

"He was faking it so much that he was crying uncontrollably, then [showed] uncontrollable elation, so he was either lying to one or the other, convincingly."

Andrew Firestone proposed to Jen Schefft on his 2003 finale, and although the couple later split, he doesn't regret his decision at the time.

"It wasn’t like, 'Eh, you know what, flip a coin.'"

Firestone, who said he traded a few emails about Mesnick's behavior with former Bachelorette contestant Trista Sutter, agrees that ending the engagement on the show was inappropriate.

"Don’t drag the poor girl on national TV," he tells Us Weekly. "I think the main thing, you’ve got to act like a gentleman."

The 33-year-old, who is now expecting his first child with wife Ivana Bozilovic, doesn't fall for what he calls Mesnick's "aw shucks, poor me" attitude.

Melissa Rycroft to Jason Mesnick: You're Classless!

Personal emails between Jason Mesnick and Melissa Rycroft in January reveal one pissed-off Bachelorette, but one who saw her engagement's demise and her fiance's feelings for Molly Malaney coming.

In the first of several emails, Melissa Rycroft expressed anger at Jason following the After the Rose special (taped in mid-January), in which Jason dumped her and asked for a second chance with runner-up Molly.

Melissa Rycroft may have seen it coming, at least in part. Yet she was still far from pleased with Jason Mesnick, writing:

"Last night didn't go NEAR how I thought... I still can't believe how you can't give reasons other than 'It changed.'... You know as well as I do that you didn't give 100% to me or the relationship. I don't understand how you can walk away form something without giving it your all. But I am walking away knowing I did."

Jason Mesnick and Melissa Rycroft

Jason gives Melissa an engagement ring and a lot of false hope.

In the initial e-mail after the taping, Melissa Rycroft seemed well aware of Jason's feelings for Molly Malaney prior to his TV confession:

"And getting confirmation about Molly in front of people like that was a complete classless move if you ask me - how could you do that to me after I repeatedly asked you about it? I'm not stupid, I knew about Molly... and you lied to me about it. I can't even tell you how much respect I lost for you... but it makes this whole process from here on out much easier for me."

Hard to argue with that! Follow the link to continue reading Jason Mesnick's reply and the ensuing Bachelor email exchange ...
