Toni Braxton Confirmed for Dancing With the Stars

Lance Bass and (possibly) Kim Kardashian officially have new competition on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars.

Celebrity gossip site TMZ reports that Toni Braxton will be a part of the show.

The singer, who quit her Vegas gig due to heart complications, continues the Dancing with the Stars tradition of dancers with some form of challenge: Heather Mills (leg, attitude) and Marlee Matlin (deaf).

Kathy Griffin Won't Be Dancing With the Stars

Give Dancing With the Stars credit: the show is living up to its pledge to find edgier celebrities for next season.

Just one problem: the celebries don't wanna dance.

Kathy Griffin, for example, was approached to be a contestant. But the reality TV star and comedian turned the show down.

"I have a hard offer for Dancing with the Stars," she said, citing the reason why she won't be appearing: "I can't even touch my toes!"

Kathy Griffin

Sorry, Dancing with the Stars fans: you won't be enjoying this sight in the fall.

Similarly, a spokesperson for former U.S. Vice President Dan Quayle said the series did not land this casting coup.

"There was contact [made]" and "there was interest in having him be on the show," but at the end of the day the Indianapolis native said noe. Er, no. "I can tell you that he is not doing the show," said the rep.

Cheryl Burke Shoots Down Dancing With the Stars Rumor

It's all but confirmed at this point that Lance Bass will appear on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars.

While we think it's unfair for a former member of a boy band to participate on the series - he used to dance for a living! - another controversy has sprung up around Bass.

Will Dancing with the Stars pair the openly gay singer with another male?

Cheryl Burke doesn't think so. She predicts we won't be seeing same-sex footwork anytime soon.

"I don't think that would happen," Burke told E! earlier this summer "I don't think America is ready to watch two men dancing."

Burke, Bass

However, General Hospital star and first season Dancing with the Stars winner Kelly Monaco would like to see Bass paired with a male.

"If you want to shock the world and give them something new, I think it's fantastic," Monaco said. "I support it 100 percent!"

Julianne Hough's Dancing With the Stars Wish List

Kim Kardashian? Dan Quayle?

Think again, says the gorgeous Julianne Hough of Dancing with the Stars, who has no reservations about giving her opinion on who she'd like to see on next season's cast. Her first choice ...

How about country legend George Strait!

"I'd like to see a country artist get out there and dance," she said at an event to celebrate her new Juicy Fruit Jingle held at Nokia Theater in NYC. "They're really not known for their dancing skills."

Hough, Julianne

Another option? Former American Idol contestant and current country artist Kellie Pickler, who's friends with Julianne Hough!

"I told her I thought it would be fun," Kellie said. "It's only a couple of months. It's not like you're signing on for the rest of your life."

Dan Quayle to Go Dancing With the Stars?

Yes, the former Vice President of the United States is "on the short list" of potential stars for the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars, according to insiders close to the ABC reality TV series.

While no official names have been announced, celebrities rumored to be in talks to join the cast include Dan Quayle, Kim Kardashian and former boy bander Lance Bass. An official announcement will be made soon.

Dan Quayle

Quayle served as Vice President under George H.W. Bush from 1989-1993, and is best remembered for being, um, not smart. He incorrectly corrected spelling bee contestants' spelling of "potato" to "potatoe."

Season 7 of Dancing with the Stars premieres September 22.

Kim Kardashian Fuels Dancing With the Stars Rumor

Kim Kardashian didn't confirm her appearance on Dancing with the Stars yesterday during her stint on the Ryan Seacrest radio show.

But she didn't deny it, either.

“I don’t know where that’s coming from, I can’t really comment on that,” the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star said about the rumor, adding that she “would be honored if they asked me."

If invited, though, could Kardashian break out the Mamba or the Tango? Not exactly.

Kardashian can "get down in a club,” she assured listeners at least. Here's a preview of the kind of booty shaking we can expect if Kim does, indeed, join the Dancing with the Stars cast:

Kim Kardashian Might Go Dancing With the Stars

Might former sex tape star Kim Kardashian shake what her mama gave her (and what most of the free world has already seen) on the coming season of Dancing with the Stars?

That's the buzz from the New York Daily News (courtesy of TV Guide). According to gossip columnists Rush & Malloy, former Dancing with the Stars champion Helio Castroneves was overheard at the ESPY Awards last week saying that Kardashian will be among the celebrity samba-ers when the reality competition returns September 22.

Is Kim Kardashian someone you wanna see bedecked in skimpy sequins? It's not like we haven't seen her in much, much less.

Dancing With the Stars Seeks Edgier Contestants

Did you find last season's Dancing With the Stars champion, Kristi Yamaguchi, too bland for reality television.

While ABC entertainment chief Steve McPherson says the former Olympic ice skater wasn't solely to blame, he is on the lookout for more exciting contestants.

“It wasn’t just Kristi. I think that the kind of real finalists were really great dancers, really fun, but just nice, sweet personalities,” McPherson said. “There wasn’t a whole lot going on. I think it’s good to have some controversy. It’s good to have a little bit more edge at times and a little bit more competition.”

Does Dancing With the Stars need more exciting contestants?

The executive added:

"I think it’s all about compelling personalities. And those can come from all different walks of life."

So far, that sentiment has rung true: Warren Sapp and Joan Rivers are supposedly signed up to dance.

Lance Bass Confirmed for Dancing with the Stars

According to The New York Daily News, there's no doubt that Lance Bass will appear on the next season of Dancing with the Stars.

There is debate, though, over what gender this former *NSync member - and openly gay individual - will be parterned with.

Here's the newspaper's account of the issue:

Lance Bass is locked and loaded for the next season of "Dancing With the Stars," says an insider. But we hear network execs are already fretting over whether or not to pair the openly gay pop star with a male or female dance partner. A gay ballroom dancer? Color us surprised!

Lance Bass

Lance Bass joins Warren Sapp as rumored contestants on the next Dancing with the Stars.

We couldn't care less than Bass is Gay, nor do we care who is partner is - but we said this when Joey Fatone was on the show:

How can someone who made a living dancing be a contestant on Dancing with the Stars?!?!

Warren Sapp Might go Dancing With the Stars

In an interview with The St. Petersburg Times, recently retired defense end Warren Sapp made it sound like his next gig may take him to reality TV.

"I might do that Dancing With the Stars," Sapp said of his future plans. "It's something that sort of came out of nowhere. But I enjoy the idea of training for something else. My whole life has been football. I could hang out in L.A. for a few weeks. My daughter would love it. There's nothing wrong with my smile. I don't think I speak Ebonics. I think I will (do the show)."

What lucky lady will partner with Warren Sapp on Dancing with the Stars?
