Dancing With the Stars Recap: A Fight, A Perfect Score and The Softer Side of Sapp

Contrary to the score they received from judge Len Goodman last night, Brooke Burke and Derek Hough are not perfect.

The tandem received the highest combined marks for the third consecutive week, but last night's Dancing with the Stars was highlighted - or lowlighted, depending on your view - by a training fight between this pair. In happier news, viewers were treated to "the softer side of Sapp," as Warren Sapp referred to himself prior to his solid routine with Kym Johnson.

Read about it all now in our full recap.

Fighting Dancers

Squabbles aside, Brooke Burke and Derek Hough are the team to beat on Dancing with the Stars.

Misty May-Treanor: Out of Dancing with the Stars

Even Misty May-Treanor is human.

Fellow Dancing With the Stars contestant Brooke Burke has confirmed that May-Treanor will be sitting the rest of this year's competition for good, following an injury suffered during training.

"It's such a sad situation. She did hurt her Achilles tendon. I don't know if she tore it or ruptured it," Brooke said on L.A.'s 104.3 FM. "She's out of the competition. Just like that, it's over for her... She heard a pop, so it's really serious."

Misty May-Treanor and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

So, will anyone be eliminated this week in light of May-Treanor's absence? Burke said she had heard a few rumors:

"I heard [Edyta Sliwinska] and [Maksim Chmerkovskiy] may dance together since both of their partners are gone, but I don't know what's going to happen."

Guess we'll have to tune in tonight to find out.

Julianne Hough Disses, Dismisses Kim Kardashian

Julianne Hough is as honest as she is gorgeous.

In response to Kim Kardashian being voted off Dancing with the Stars this week, Hough said:

"Kim was one of the weaker ones. I hate saying that, but it's true.... [she's] a real sweetheart. Everyone has their perceptions of people before they meet them, and I can tell you she’s such a good person. Obviously, though, people have to be voted off to keep the show going. That’s the name of the game."

Lance Bass said: "I am very sad to see her leave. We are friends outside the show, so I will get to see her anytime I want."

Brooke Burke said: "I would have liked to see her bust out and see more of her dancing. She didn't get the opportunity to do that."

Kim Kardashian Eliminated from Dancing with the Stars

We were hoping Kim Kardashian would prove that sex tape stars can make good dancers, too.

Alas, the booty-shaking celebrity was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars last night, following a trio of stiff, unnatural performances. She was like a virgin out there.

Kim, Mark

To Kim's credit, she handled the news of her ousting with class. It took place on the fifth anniversary of her father's death and Kim said:

"I just know he's really happy and watching over me and I know he's really proud."

Ted McGinley Eliminated from Dancing with the Stars

Ted McGinley's run on Dancing with the Stars was far shorter than his time on Married... with Children. About eight years shorter.

The actor and partner Inna Brayer were voted out last night.

"It's been a lot of fun," McGinley said after his elimination. "You know, I know there's a lot of guys sitting at home with a beer in their hand having a little chuckle at me. You know what? Thank you for that. I appreciate it. I'm one of the guys. I guess I'll always be one of the guys. Some of us aren't meant to dance, I guess."

It was a short stay on Dancing with the Stars for Ted McGinley and Inna Brayer.

Dancing With the Stars Recap: A Favorite Emerges

After earning 12 points total on Monday night, Jeffrey Ross was voted off Dancing with the Stars before getting a chance to redeem himself last night. Tough break.

As awful as that comedian was, however, another celebrity has established herself as the early favorite this season: Brooke Burke and Derek Hough earned the top score for the second consecutive night.

Other highlights from the evening included:

  • Cloris Leachman once again cursing off the judges; is this an act, or the raving of an old woman?
  • Kim Kardashian doing the Mambo to "Baby Got Back." Why fight it, right, Kim?

Read our complete Dancing With the Stars recap now and let us know which couple you think will stand up to Brooke and Derek as the weeks roll on.

Brooke Burke and Derek Hough earned the top score of the evening, but a 23 isn't anything either of them could write home about. Here's this tandem in action:
