Wayne Newton to Go Dancing with the Stars

At 65, Newton still tours with the USO and makes regular appearances in his hometown of Vegas.

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba and Season 4 winner Apolo Ohno will announce the next lineup August 29 on Good Morning America.

A Dancing with the Stars Party!

Before they waltz down the aisle in September, Dancing with the Stars alumni Alec Mazo and Edyta Sliwinska took their love to Las Vegas for a joint bachelor and bachelorette party over the weekend.

Along for the celebration was Mazo's Dancing partner (and season one champ) Kelly Monaco, Cheryl Burke with boyfriend Matthew Lawrence, Kym Johnson and Karina Smirnoff.

Dancing Gals

According to People magazine, the group arrived Saturday, got settled into a suite in the Planet Hollywood Hotel and immediately parted ways.

The girls went off to the hotel's Heart Bar and later partied at Moon Nightclub at the Palms, while the guys took their party to a boat at nearby Lake Mead.

During the most recent season of Dancing with the Stars, Mazo was partnered with model Paulina Porizkova, while Sliwinska danced with former Cheers star John Ratzenberger.

The parties wrapped up on Sunday in true bachelor/bachelorette party style â€" relaxing at Bare, a top-optional pool at the Mirage, followed by some gambling.

Dancing with the Stars, The Bachelor Premiere Dates Announced

Fall premiere dates for the 2007-08 Season were announced today for the ABC Television Network by Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment, including a three-night Dancing with the Stars premiere event, with two nights of performance shows leading into a special Wednesday night results show.

Dancing with the Stars "We're really looking forward to the '07-'08 season with our solid returning series and a fantastic new lineup of original programming," said McPherson. "We have a strong foundation that will help us launch our new shows and continue our drive for fall, and we're totally committed to providing viewers compelling characters and unforgettable stories that are uniquely ABC."

Meanwhile, ABC has announced The Bachelor's eleventh installment will premiere Monday, September 24, immediately following the debut of Dancing.

As was the case for The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman, with Andy Baldwin, the reality franchise's Spring 2007 tenth installment, The Bachelor's eleventh edition will begin with 90-minute episodes that will air after Dancing with the Stars.

However, unlike last spring's edition that ran 90-minute episodes all season long, The Bachelor's eleventh edition episodes will cut down to an hour after three weeks.

Apolo Ohno to Join Dancing with the Stars Tour

Season four Dancing with the Stars champ Apolo Ohno will join the live summer tour generated by the hit ABC show.

Dancing Champion "After the show I started training again for the Olympics but realized quickly that I couldn't go on without at least one more week of Samba," Ohno said in a statement that People magazine reported.

The two-time Olympic speed-skating gold medalist, along with partner Julianne Hough won the competition on Dancing in May, when he declared, "I feel amazing."

His appearances on the tour will only be in five select cities, starting in Raleigh, N.C., on Saturday. He'll also show up in Hershey, Pa., on July 2; Bridgeport, Conn., on July 3; Wilkes Barre, Pa., on July 5 and Atlantic City, NJ, on July 6. 6th.

Dancing contestant (and Cheers veteran) John Ratzenberger will also make a guest appearance in his hometown of Bridgeport.

Other stars who are currently on the Dancing tour include, Joey McIntyre, Joey Lawrence, Drew Lachey and Joey Fatone, who has signed on to host a karaoke-themed game show on NBC, which starts July 9.

Jennie Garth to Boogie Down on Dancing with the Stars

Jennie Garth Don't look now, but Dancing with the Stars has apparently become the publicity platform of choice for former Beverly Hills 90210 stars looking to revitalize their careers.

After Ian Ziering finished fourth with professional partner Cheryl Burke during the show recently concluded fourth season, it was reported that Tori Spelling - his fellow former 90210 star and current co-star of Oxygen's Tori & Dean: Inn Love - was in discussions with producers to appear on the show's Fall 2007 installment.

Now Ziering has spilled the beans that he talked another fellow former 90210 star, Jennie Garth, into two-stepping on Dancing with the Stars, In Touch Weekly reported in its June 18 issue.

"We texted each other back and forth," Ziering told In Touch about his conversations with Garth, who unlike most of the rest of her former 90210 co-stars, found four more seasons of regular television work on The WB's What I Like About You sitcom after 90210 ended its 10-year run in 2000.

"She had a lot of trepidation at first," Ziering told In Touch. "And as an actor, it's scary because there is no second take. If you screw up, it's out there for everyone to see."

Garth's publicist Nicole Nassar confirmed In Touch's report to Access Hollywood on Wednesday. "It's official [Garth will be doing the show next season]," she said.

Len Goodman Dishes on Dancing with the Stars

Len Goodman is the head judge on Dancing with the Stars. And People magazine caught up with him for an interview, excerpted below:

PEOPLE: Would you have picked winner Apolo Anton Ohno over Joey Fatone in a fan vote?
GOODMAN: I probably would have done, yes. I know some weeks during the course of the performances I was perhaps a little bit harsh on Apolo, but only because my expectations were so high because I thought he was such a talented dancer. I guess overall I think the right person won.

Len Goodman PEOPLE: How would you evaluate the season?
GOODMAN: I was overwhelmed by the standard we reached. The finale, I thought, was the best finale we had in the four seasons.

PEOPLE: Maksim Chmerkovskiy is on the cover of the Dancing with the Stars Cardio Workout DVD. Have you seen that and do you think that's unfair competition?
GOODMAN:My DVD isn't a cardiovascular workout, it's not expected to make you superfit â€" it's purely for people that can't dance. One of the hardest things to do is to take that first step into a dance studio. This really is just to get people to learn the basic steps and have a bit of fun indoors, and if they enjoy it then to go to a local dance school. It's like an hors d'oeuvre really, it's like a prawn cocktail.

PEOPLE: How do you think the U.S. celebrities compare with the British celebrities on Strictly Come Dancing?
GOODMAN: Everyone can dance to a degree. You find the odd celebrity that is just a naturally gifted and talented person, whereas others, you find, will struggle. I think you've had the worst dancer probably but you've also had one or two of the best, and if it came to a head to head between America and Great Britain, I think probably the Americans would edge it.

PEOPLE: Did you want to name any names?
GOODMAN: In England we had the car-driving man Quentin Willson, who I think probably was the absolute worst ever. In this season you had Billy Ray Cyrus, but that's part of the charm of the show. We like to see people struggle. You've got to put Apolo right up there as one of the best, and Joey in this season.

Drew Lachey I thought was a great dancer. From season one I thought John O'Hurley was a terrific ballroom dancer. Some of the worst: Kenny Mayne was one that was particularly terrible, and Billy Ray, I don't know how he kept coming back!

Oh-Yes! Apolo Anton Ohno Wins Dancing with the Stars

Apolo Anton Ohno received an extra special 25th birthday gift Tuesday: The two-time Olympic medalist became the latest Dancing with the Stars champion.

"I feel amazing," the speed skater said after learning he'd won the competition, beating out singer Joey Fatone and boxer Laila Ali. "From day 1 I feel like everyone here has been champions."

Dancing with the Stars Winner  On Tuesday's finale Ohno and his partner Julianne Hough danced the paso doble before winning the mirror-ball trophy.

"I'm so excited to see Apolo win," judge Carrie Ann Inaba told People magazine after the finale. "He took it so seriously. He truly mastered the dances. He was the best technical dancer. Apolo and Julianne brought a whole new energy to the dance floor. You never quite knew what they were going to do."

Runner-up Fatone kept up his signature good spirits saying he felt "like a winner" and calling the show "one of the best things I've ever done in my life."

Ali and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who started the evening in third place, ended up in the same position after performing the mambo. When asked about balancing boxing and dancing, Ali said, "I think you can be strong and sexy and beautiful."

But not a winner. That honor now belongs to Ohno, as he follows in the footsteps if last year's champ, Emmitt Smith.

Behind the Scenes of Last Night's Dancing with the Stars

People magazine reported on the backstage happenings on last night's Dancing with the Stars...

Déjà vu
Jerry Springer was back in the house, saying, "I came to give Kym some moral support." The host of the reality show America's Got Talent added:

"Just being in the room and going through those same feelings â€" particularly when you go out there, and just when they are about to announce your name and there's like 30 seconds before you have to dance â€" ... it was like, 'Oh my gosh, I forgot the steps.' I miss the camaraderie, but not the dancing."

Pacing Is Everything
If the first 10 weeks were a marathon, then tonight was a sprint to the finish, says Laila Ali. "I had nerves tonight, but they were good nerves," she adds, while partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy pipes in, "It's exciting. We were very anxious." Anticipating the finale, he also says, "But this is what we wanted to do all season long."

laila_ali180.jpg Do-Over
"Tonight was a blur," Joey Fatone says of the one-hour performance show. "It's almost like, 'Did we do everything we wanted to do? Could we do the cha-cha better?' It all went so fast." At this stage in the game, Fatone's partner, Kym Johnson, says, "It's all about entertaining. It's about the viewers at home and what they think."

Shar Thing?
Shar Jackson
, a Kevin Federline's ex and a star of the upcoming ABC summer show Ex-Wives' Club, tells People she was inspired Monday night. "I think I want to dance a little bit. Or maybe I want to wear the cute costumes?" she said. "I think I got bit by the bug when I walked in, for sure." And speaking of which, does it bug her that people want to know about her former husband? "Not at all," she says. "Look at us, we are friends. Life's way too short for people not to get along. And he's a great dad."

Family Affair
It was a jam-packed audience, full of family members from around the world. Kym Johnson's mom was visiting from Sydney, Australia. Apolo Anton Ohno's father Yuki was in from Seattle. Pro dancer Julianne Hough's family came in from Utah, and Joey Fatone's wife Kelly and daughter, Brianna, were there, too. Usually audience members have to be 16, but the show allowed the 6-year-old to sit in the front row to see dad perform the cha-cha and the freestyle dance. "She was so excited," Fatone said after the show. "She was waving and smiling. She's a big ham. I'm so glad she could see it."
