Dancing With the Stars: Opening Night Performance Clips

Dancing With the Stars kicked off last night... with a series of mediocre performances.

Brooke Burke and Derek Hough earned the top score of the evening, but a 23 isn't anything either of them could write home about. Here's this tandem in action:

Who might give Brooke and Derek some competition? Karina Smirnoff and Rocco DiSpirito didn't totally suck:

Finally, here's a look at Cody Linley and Julianne Hough in action. No matter how many false steps that encounter, these two will always look good doing it:

Low Scores, Cloris Leachman Dominate Dancing With the Stars Debut

When the highest combined score given out to any of the 13 dances is a 23, all we have to say is this:

Thank goodness an 82-year old actress was around to flash her legs, her cleavage and curse out the judges backstage.

Indeed, Cloris Leachman stole the show on last night's Dancing with the Stars premiere. Review our full recap right now and watch Cloris in action below:

Cody Linley: Experiencing Pressure, Trash Talk

As the youngest celebrity to ever appear on Dancing with the Stars, Cody Linley is already experiencing pressure.

But combine that with a beautiful partner who holds two Dancing with the Stars trophies and the actor's knees must be perpatually knocking.

“A lot of people are saying, ‘You’ve got the best partner so you better step up your game!’” Linley told People Magazine, adding that physical woes were adding to his current problems.

"The first couple of weeks I got really sore…in parts of my body that I never knew had muscles!” he said. “Like the inside of my legs? I never expected that to hurt.”

Cody, Julianne

Cody and Julianne have been sizing up the competition, and Hough predicts her brother Derek Hough, and his partner rooke Burke will be a factor. Why? Because Burke's “legs and arms are hyper-extended, which is what you want in dancing.”

However, Linley thinks the show’s oldest competitor, Cloris Leachman, will be a formidable opponent.

“She’s super feisty,” Linley said about the 82-year-old actress. “She was already trash talking and everything! She was like, ‘You think you can take me? So you’re the youngest and I’m the oldest. Well, I’m going to show you up so get ready, buddy.’”

New Dancing With the Stars Promo: Season Will Be Big!

Are you ready for the biggest Dancing With the Stars season of all-time?

No less an authority than ABC is dubbing the seventh season of the reality competition as such. Need evidence of just how enormous this fall's version will be?

Comedian Jeffrey Ross, in the promo below, says the show will be bigger than a particular body part on Kim Kardshian. That's pretty darn big!

Cody Linley: Target of Miley Cyrus, Jealousy of Guys Everywhere

Cody Linley better appreciate his life.

The young actor appears alongside Miley Cyrus on Hannah Montana and is partners with Julianne Hough on this season of Dancing with the Stars.

In the attached video, Linley speaks on the support he'll receive this season from the aforementioned teen queen, along with advice he's received from her father. Some highlights:

  • "Miley and a bunch of my friends are going to come and support me, so I'm really, really excited about that," Cody says below while on a break from rehearsing with Hough.
  • Cody has gotten tips from Billy Ray Cyrus, who previously appeared on Dancing with the Stars.
  • Will the younger Cyrus ever appear on the show? "I don't know. I have no idea. You'll have to ask Miley."

Lance Bass Has Sausage Feet

Lance Bass is totally ready to go Dancing with the Stars.

He may need some ice for his feet first, however.

“I’m wearing heels!” Bass told People Magazine earlier this week. “It’s not that fun. My feet are swollen sausages every day!”

Lacey Schwimmer and Lance Bass

Painfully, that's not all: At 29, Bass is also feeling his age after four weeks of countless hours spent preparing for Monday night’s premiere.

“It doesn’t feel the same at all,” Bass said, who is partnered with a new ballroom pro, So You Think You Can Dance alum Lacey Schwimmer. “The first thing you notice is your knees, then your lower back goes out, your arms start hurting–and the feet!”

Lance Bass Out to Prove 'N Sync Mates Wrong!

If the members of 'N Sync are to be believed, Lacey Schimmer has a lot of work in front of her.

The new Dancing with the Stars professional is teamed up with Lance Bass, and he recently told People Magazine that his former band mates used to mock his moves all the time.

"The guys always told me how terrible of a dancer I am," said Bass. "So I kind of just wanted to prove to myself that I could learn something crazy."

Seriously, how bad of a dancer could Bass have been? Wasn't moving and grooving the man reason 'N Sync was so popular for so long?

Dancing with the Stars contestants such as Kim Kardashian, who has more experience in the bedroom than the dance floor, are at more of a disadvantage than Lance Bass.

Dancing with the Stars Profile: Jeffrey Ross

Jeffrey Ross is the latest comedian to try his hand - or feet, really - at Dancing with the Stars. This industry hasn't exactly fares as well on the show as those from the athletic fields.

Ross is aware of this and sounds like he just wants to have fun.

"I'm in the same competition now as a Grammy winner, an Emmy winner, an Oscar winner, a Super Bowl winner... I'm not really sure how I fit in," jokes Ross. "I still think I'm being punk'd a little bit."

He'll be partners with Edyta Sliwinska.

Playful Practice: Cody Linley and Julianne Hough

Cody Linley and Julianne Hough make for one young, attractive pairing on season seven of Dancing with the Stars.

No matter how well they perform, these two are likely to remain on the show due to their appeal to both men and alike.

Still, it's nice to see the tandem isn't relying on looks to get by. Here are a few shots of Cody and Linley practicing for the September 22 premiere:
