Dancing with the Stars Summary: Cristian de la Fuente in First!

Injury? What injury?!?

That was the message sent to fellow contestant by Cristian de la Fuente on Dancing with the Stars last night. Despite being taken to the hospital last week for an arm injury, the Latin hunk danced his way into the overall points lead.

Partner Cheryl Burke deserves a lot of credit for her choreography, as well.

Dancing with the Stars Votes Out Derek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth

There was twice the good news on Dancing with the Stars last night for fans of Cristian de la Fuente:

  1. His injured arm is okay;
  2. He's still very much alive in the competition.

In a modest surprise, Derek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth were voted off the show this week. This might not be the worst news in the world for the tandem, though:

They are rumored to be dating. So more time alone can only be a good thing.

Derek and Shannon were joined in the bottom two by Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolan. Said Elizabeth on being eliminated:

"I've made a friend for life."

Dancing With the Stars Recap: Two Rounds, One Injury

On Dancing with Kristi Yamaguchi and the Rest of the Less Talented Stars last night, Cristian de la Fuente was actually sent to the hospital with a sever muscle cramp.

The actor should be alright, which is more than we can say - sadly - for Marissa Jaret Winokur. After a pair of rounds last night (Ballroom and Latin), this former Broadway star has to be the favorite to be voted out tonight. But you never know.

Dancing with the Stars Cast Comments on Derek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth Showmance

Partners, LoversDerek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth are still alive this season on Dancing with the Stars.

But the state of this tandem on TV is not what has fellow contestants buzzing. Instead, they're reacting to recent photos that show the pair kissing.

"They might have been auditioning for a new romantic comedy, like Friends with Benefits," Karina Smirnoff joked about the make out session."They're both hot, young single people, so why not?"

Smirnoff, of course, is dating the man with whom she partnered on the series two years ago, Mario Lopez; although each has insisted that romance blossomed after their run on the show was over.

Cristian de la Fuente also doesn't see a problem with the romantic pairing: "When you spend a lot of time with somebody and you have a good relationship, you want to extend that working relationship to the house."

Lastly, let's hear from Mark Ballas, Hough's roommate and bandmate:

"He's single. She's single. Whatever. I think what's great about their relationship is they're really good friends and they get along really well. They have great chemistry."

That sums it up to us.

Marlee Matlin Predicts Dancing With the Stars Champion

Marlee Matlin appeared on  Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this week. When asked about her experience on Dancing with the Stars, the actress sounded proud and grateful.

"I'm glad as a deaf woman that I was able to go out there and prove I can dance and do it as best as I could.  Anybody - any person - can do what they want," Matlin signed.

Matlin and Sanchez

This would prove to be the final dance for Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez.

Kimmel then asked Matlin about her thoughts on the competition so far, which has been dominated by Olympic gold medalist figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi and her partner Mark Ballas; they found themselves atop the Dancing with the Stars judges' leaderboard for the fifth week in a row - and also scored the sixth season's first perfect score - on Monday night.

Matlih, however, pointed to a different athlete when making a prediction about the winner:

"I actually think that it will be Jason Taylor," she said, replying to a question about Yamaguchi with: "Kristi who? Don't know the person."

Might there be tension between Marlee Matlin and Kristi Yamaguchi?!?

Dancing With the Stars Contestants Criticize Derek Hough, Shannon Elizabeth

Following their tirade against the judges Monday night - despite receiving a flurry of 8's - Derek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth were the subject of harsh words from others associated with Dancing with the Stars last night.

"I think it was a little bit in bad form," Len Goodman said of Hough's reaction. "I learned long ago, ‘Never knock the competition,' but in his defense, he's young, and we all say things in the heat of the moment."

Regarding Elizabeth's flood of tears, Bruno Tonioli added:

"Sometimes you get a little wound up, but the Niagara Falls, we had that when we gave her an eight! If we give her a five, what are you going to get? Commit suicide?! Hari-Kari?! Get over it!"

Even Cristian de la Fuente said of Hough: "He should probably learn to stay quiet. It's one thing to be angry at the judges and another thing to start talking about the other people here."

Did you think Hough and Elizabeth were out of line with their reactions?

Marlee Matlin Signs Off

Despite the fact that Fabian Sanchez was her partner, the mambo did in Marlee Matlin on Dancing with the Stars this week.

The Oscar-winning actress became the sixth contestant eliminated from season six of the show, but give credit to Matlin for delivering a farewell on last night's results show with as much heart as she put into her performances.

"All i can say is thank you to the judges.…I want to thank the magnificent Fabian for giving me the most beautiful art of dance in my life," she signed.

Obviously impressed by the contestant, Tom Bergeron stepped out of his role as cohost to praise Matlin during a nice moment:

"Marlee and I have known each other for years, and I want to step outside the host role for a moment and tell you as a friend I'm so proud of you."

Now, the march toward crowing Kristi Yamaguchi as the champion continues on Monday night.

Dancing With the Stars Recap: A Gold Medal Performance

Just when we thought someone might step up and challenge former Olympic Gold Medalist Kristi Yamaguchi, her and Mark Ballas put up a perfect score last night.

We really are surprised those behind Dancing With the Stars didn't realize how much an ice skating champion would dominate the competition, thereby eliminating any sort of drama.

Derek Hough and Shannon Elizbaeth: Kissy Face!

Looks like Derek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth are more than just partners on the dance floor.

The pair were spotted hugging and kissing this week while frolicking at the beach in Malibu. They appear to be following in the romantic footsteps of past Dancing with the Stars contestants, Karina Smirnoff and Mario Lopez.

Dancing with the Stars Contestants React to Viewer Snubs

Stars That DancePriscilla Presley may have been the contestant voted off Dancing with the Stars this week. But a pair of other celebrities were feeling the pressure all the way until the final votes were announced.

They each handled it very differently, however.

After sweating the evening out, Cristian de la Fuente came up with a new plan backstage to win over the judges:

"To make Carrie Ann happy," the actor joked, "Cheryl and I are going to make out. To make Len happy, my arms will be framed perfectly. And to make Bruno happy, we're going to work on my footwork."

Partner Cheryl Burke, meanwhile, was more matter-of-fact, jumping in to inform de la Fuente that they were "going to work on everything." At least these two showed a sense of humor about the results, though.

The same can't be said for Shannon Elizabeth. She broke down in tears during the final commercial break.

"When they give you ‘The Speech,'" the still teary-eyed actress said to People Magazine after the show, referring to the final stage directions from the crew, "I started to think about what I would say, it kind of freaked me out!"

The actress was able to pull herself together, fortunately, thanks to the help of partner Derek Hough, Marlee Matlin and even judge Carrie Ann Inaba.

Sad Shannon

It's okay, Shannon Elizabeth: even if you lose Dancing with the Stars, you'll always have a mediocre movie career on which you can fall back. Remember Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back?
