American Gladiators to Welcome The Incredible Hulk

NBC will air a special "Incredible Hulk"-themed episode of American Gladiators later in the season, welcoming guest star Lou Ferrigno (pictured) to the arena with host Hulk Hogan.

Ferrigno played the bulky green super hero in the 1970s TV series version of "The Incredible Hulk." The American Gladiators episode will include a hulked-out Gladiator Arena and an exclusive 60-second preview from the upcoming movie The Incredible Hulk.

Look for this unique episode to air on June 9; the film opens four days later, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

For the episode, the show's Los Angeles Sports Arena will be revamped with Hulk themes. For example:

Approximately 1,000 pairs of Hulk Hands will be given to audience members to wear throughout the episode, while Gladiators will likewise use Hulk Hands while competing in the Gauntlet.

We didn't see this coming.

Wolf, known for his commitment to his character on American Gladiators, attended the 2008 Country Music Awards over the weekend.

American Gladiators See Drop in Second Season Ratings

Perhaps American Gladiators needs to add a new challenge in season two: How to Improve Ratings.

When it returned to television in January - after a solid decade or so off the air - the show was watched by 12 million viewers. However, its second season debut drew less than half that number last week.

American Gladiators

Monday's episode was watched by 4.9 million fans, earning "its lowest original rating and finishing a distant third in the 8-10 p.m. time period," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

As a point of comparison, the show's competition for the night included Dancing with the Stars, which was watched by 17.6 million people; and How I Met Your Mother - guest starring Britney Spears - which was watched by 9 million folks hoping for a crotch shot.

Hulk Hogan Previews American Gladiators

It might be an understatement to say that Hulk Hogan is excited for the second season of American Gladiators. The former WWE star is excited to announce that the competition will have three new cast members and a couple new events.

"Season 2 of American Gladiators is going to be bigger and badder than before!  We have new gladiators, new events and a new gladiator arena.  All those gladiator maniacs out there are going to be blown away," Hogan said.

A total of seven new events will be introduced this season, including Rocketball and Vertigo, which will be revealed in the premiere episode.

What will they entail? Catch the return of new episodes of American Gladiators on May 12 to find out!

Erin Toughill, New American Gladiator, Jousts with Husband

Erin Toughill is one of the new star gearing up for the second season of American Gladiators. We already know she's gonna be tough to beat.

According to documents uncovered by TMZ, Toughhill allegedly beat husband Clark Bevans on their recent honeymoon. That's never an encouraging sign for a successful marriage.

Bevans, who filed a restraining order against Toughill last week, claims Toughill went "insane" with jealously, accusing him of being "a pedophile, sociopath and homosexual."

Erin Toughill

Erin Toughill practiced for her role on American Gladiators by supposedly beating her husband.

Aside from reportedly beating him on several occasions, Bevans says Toughill smashed the windshield of his RV. He also says Toughill "bodychecked, hockey style" a trainer at Gold's Gym he had dated years before.

On a related side note, both Toughill and Bevans are mixed martial arts fighters. Bevans has filed for annulment, though, because one battle he can't seem to win is the one with his new wife.

Sources say "Gladiators" producers were unaware of the hoo-ha between Toughill and her hubby.

American Gladiator Has a Stripper Past

Hey, David Hernandez, you're not alone in your past as a stripper.

Perhaps the booted American Idol finalist can take comfort in the fact that American Gladiator Justice has been exposed - literally! - as a former stripper.

Six years ago, Justice went by the name Thunder. He was part of the male revue, Bare Assets. No judgments here, folks... just props on his nice abs.

Evan Dollard and Monica Carlson: Champions of American Gladiators

Evan Dollard and Monica Carlson conquered the last night. They were crowned male and female champions of the show, respectively.

Evan, a 25-year-old retail manager from Chicago completed the Eliminator - a timed obstacle course that contenders competed in at the end of each episode - at 1:19, topping the previous record of 1:23 he had set during the semifinal round.

"This is so awesome! I didn't think I could beat that 1:23," said Evan following his victory. "I was just trying to go steady and strong, but the adrenaline got a hold of me... It just took over me. I just exploded out of every single one of these obstacles."

Monica, a 32-year-old mother of twin girls completed the Eliminator in 1:53. She and Evan earned $100,00 for their efforts.

Valerie Waugaman Sounds Siren on American Gladiators

As Siren on American Gladiators, Valerie Waugaman has an opinion on why this reality show revival has been so successful. She recently shared it with TV Guide:

TVGuide.com: So, how did you become a gladiator?
Valerie Waugaman: It just fit into the path of who I've been all my life. I've been very competitive and athletic since I was a child, and I competed in volleyball in college, and then I went on to compete in professional figure competitions in the IFBB, the same federation that made Arnold famous.

They found me because I was a fitness model, and they were looking for female physiques just like mine. They called me and said, "Would you try out to be a gladiator?" I grew up watching the show, so I was just like, "Heck yeah, this is great." [Laughs]

Valerie Waugaman

TVGuide.com: How did you form your gladiator persona?
Waugaman: After the first couple of weeks of training camp, the network said, "Listen, it's not about creating a character that is like a fantasy character, it's really just yourself, but amplified about 10 times for TV." So you bring your own personality, but up to the next level. Siren is just me, amplified.

Gina Carano Cruchses American Gladiator Competition

Gina Carano doesn't just dominate competitors on American Gladiators.

She also dominates her fellow hurly, burly stars when it comes to online search results.

The raven-haired beauty known as Crush tops Yahoo's list of most-searched Gladiators. And is it really any wonder why? At 5'8" and155 pounds, Carano combines beauty with strength. Her favorite event?

The Joust. Instead of challenging her on that, we'll just take her word for it...
