This 23-year old college student originally auditioned in Louisville, Kentucky. He hails from Conway, Arkansas.
Allen was an underdog, originally praised for his looks more than his talent. But as time went on, viewers began to appreciate his original arrangements. The most memorable was his rendition on Kanye West's "Heartless."
Allen defeated Adam Lambert in the Idol finale.
