Rock the Cradle: Parent's Pick

Original Air Date: 4/10/2008

Episode Guide

Each contestant that is deemed safe will perform a song that his or her parent picked. Come on, U Can't Touch This!

The first to find out his fate is Jesse Blaze Snider. He won't be going gome and must perform Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell." A leather-clad Jesse tears into the song as his parents rock out on the sidelines. The crowd loves it But do the judges?

Yes. Jesse's scores are high, including a perfect 10. June Ambrose says he was clearly "born in leather diapers" and Belinda Carlisle calls him a "rock star." Larry Rudolph thinks he's "the best entertainer on the show," but that his vocals sound like "karaoke." Ummm... isn't that what this entire competition is?

Lara Johnston's dad chooses Aretha Franklin's "Respect" for her because he knows Lara can "sing the hell out of it." The daughter steps onto the stage wearing a slinky black dress and a huge smile. Her scores range from 6 to 9. Hehe, 69.

Next to find out they're off the chopping block is A'Keiba Burrell-Hammer. Her dad, MC Hammer, wants her to perform the Fugees' "Killing Me Softly" because it's uplifting. MCis loving it from the stands, but judges don't fully agree. She gets 7s and 8s. June thinks A'Keiba looks like "a 40-year-old woman."Uncalled for!

Crosby Loggins is told to go with Gavin DeGraw's "I Don't Wanna Be" because it's uptempo and challenging. Because Crosby's not used to singing pop songs, he looks to his dad for pointers on how to avoid being "boring." Scores range from 6.5 to 9. Belinda admits she was "disappointed" and June says she wants to see Crosby take off his shirt.

Also safe this week? Landon Brown. Dad Bobby Brown wants to see his son get wild while performing Stevie Wonder's "Superstition," which Bobby often performs live. Landon's scores range from 7.5 to 9. Belinda calls him "very sexy." Meanwhile, Bobby Brown says he's "very proud" and that he hates Ray J. Just kidding about the second part.

Lil B. Sure must sing Maxwell's "This Woman's Work." Many high notes are hit, but not with the judges. Lil gets scores that range from 5.5 to 7.5.

Lucy Walsh performs next, even though her performance last week made her safe from elimination. She sings Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors" because it's so special to Lucy, according to dad Joe Walsh. All of Lucy's scores are between 7 and 8.  Not bad. Not great.

Elimination time: Jesse Money is gone, but she takes the bad news like a champ, even though her dad, Eddie Money, isn't there.
She says goodbye to the Rock the Cradle gang and walks off the stage.

Chloe Lattanzi is the last to hit the stage. She has Three Days Grace's "I Hate Everything About You" chosen for her by her mom, Olivia Newton-Joh. She drops to the floor and jiggles and writhes through the song. Did the judges enjoy that messs?

Uh, no. Chloe scores range between 6 and 8.5.
