Top Model's Jaslene Gonzalez: Janice Dickinson Reloaded!

Don't you think the newest America's Next Top Model victor, Jaslene Gonzalez, bears a striking resemblance one of the show's former judges - and the nut who claims to have coined term (and is the first) supermodel: Janice Dickinson.

Jaslene Gonzalez was crowned ANTM on Wednesday night by Tyra Banks, and although she's not acting like an insane diva (yet), it's her looks that have us likening her to the self-proclaimed "world's first supermodel."

Jaslene & Janice

The good news? Jaslene Gonzalez conjures up images of early Janice Dickinson; before the reconstruction, tantrums, demands and loss of marbles. Let's hope that the humble innocence remains.

Jaslene Gonzalez Officially Named America's Next Top Model

Jaslene Gonzalez may have been a little much for Tyra Banks and company during casting for last season's group of aspiring models, but the fierce competitor, 20, returned for Cycle 8 and proved her worth.

Viva Jaslene!

Her miraculous turnaround concluded last night when she was named America's Next Top Model, beating out Natasha and Renee for the prize.

Joining Caridee English and six other Top Model champs, Jaslene Gonzalez talked to People magazine about the Top Model victory, her drama with Felicia and more:

Q: What was it like to see your picture on the screen and be named America's Next Top Model?
Jaslene Gonzalez: I didn't even look at the picture. I was waiting to hear Tyra Banks say my name. Then I looked! Once I looked at the screen, my legs got weak. I couldn't move. I was in shock. They didn't show it, but I was holding onto Natasha for like 15 minutes.

Q: You didn't make the final cut during casting for Cycle 7. How does it feel to come back and win it all?
Jaslene Gonzalez: It means so much. For Cycle 7, things didn't work out, but I'm glad. I was a little too crazy, a little too much. So, second time around I tried to compose myself and show a cooler swagger. I went back stronger than ever. This is what I wanted and I got it.

Tyra Banks Previews America's Next Top Model Finale

Beautiful BanksIn a candid TV Guide interview, Tyra Banks talks about Wednesday's finale of America's Next Top Model, braving the dating game, and the prospect of adopting kids one day soon.

TV Guide: Can you give us any hints about the season finale of America's Next Top Model?
Tyra Banks: For the fashion show, we decided to do "the evolution of woman."

She starts off as slightly primitive, then she evolves into this kickass, power woman. The Sydney Opera House is the backdrop.

TV Guide: This season Cassandra got frostbite on a shoot, and Natasha was badly burned by a curling iron. Do you have any modeling injuries?
Tyra Banks: I have scars on the backs of my arms from dressers in Paris scraping me with pins as I was taking a shirt or gown off. They pin you to death [to make it fit], and then pull it off really fast to get to the next outfit. I've also been burned on my eyelid and forehead by a curling iron.

TV Guide: Ouch! Did you ever experience the emotional pain that the girls go through in the America's Next Top Model house?
Tyra Banks: I used to live in a model's apartment in New York City. A girl woke me up in the middle of the night because she thought I stole her alarm clock. I was very insulted. I'm like, "I can afford a hotel â€" I stay here for the camaraderie." So what they do on TV, I've been a victim of that stuff.

Adrienne Curry Angry Over America's Next Top Model Snub

Notice anything missing from this year's America's Next Top Model?

According to season one winner Adrienne Curry, fans have been noticing that she's actually missing from the show's opening credits. And don't think for one second this is okay with the somewhat insane beauty.

Here's her most recent MySpace blog:

Adrianne Curry Yep, you guys were right, I am not shown on either the opening credits or featured on the walls of the house the girls live in. I frankly could give a s-it less. It seems very petty and immature for [Tyra Banks] & Co. to try to act like the first winner of their show never existed. All I did was raise my voice when I didn't get what I was promised. Were they THAT surprised that I would be outspoken about it? COME ON!

I have since extended the olive branch to them, told them I was sorry about anything hurtful I said (I was pissed!)....but that I was NOT sorry for outting them on their bulls-it.

If you look at my myspace profile, you will see that I posted a pic of TYRA and Top Model. Why? Because I am mature enough to realize that I wouldn't have been able to work to get where I am today if I hadn't landed that show. I give them credit where they deserve it ALL THE TIME. I AM grateful for what I did get out of the show.

However, unlike the winners after me, my show wasn't that popular. Not very many people watched the first season at all. It wasn't untill I had MADE A NAME FOR MYSELF and generated attention OUTSIDE of top model that people watched my season. VH1 started airing my season of top model AFTER The Surreal Life I was on had already finished. Top Model wasn't even originally on VH1!

So, I like to give myself credit for that. ; )

So, as much as they want to hurl insults my way and to "disown" me publicly, they can't change the fact that I was the first...and that I have worked my ASS OFF to climb to the top. It's been 4 years now, and I still have more press, work, etc then any of the other girls from the show.(Though Elyse is doing quite well in Hong Kong I hear). I am an international star now.

Top Model, Surreal Life, and My Fair Brady has airred in almost every country in the world. So, I THANK Tyra for what she did do for me...and for NOT giving me what I thought I would get when I won. If she had, I wouldn't have worked as fucking hard as I did to become as successful as I am. Never in my wildiest dreams did I think I would make it this far.

I am grateful beyond words! I will never forget where I came from...or what got me here. America's Next Top Model changed my life.

I am not mad at Tyra or Top Model for not putting me on there. It's her show, and she can make any choice she wants. I myself will not be taking her pic down off my page, I think it's stupid.

America's Next Top Model Recap: Mad Natasha Drama

There's no doubt who the focal point was throughout last night's all-new America's Next Top Model episode: Natasha.

The other three remaining Top Model aspirants - Renee, Dionne, and Jaslene - left nothing in the bag, fueling the raging Natasha fire with remarks like:

Who is She, Really?

  • "She is this funny Russian girl, but now she's just annoying to me."
  • "You guys better bring it at the photo shoot tomorrow....We need to send someone home. You know who I'm talking about."
  • "I want to see Natasha go home. Right now, I'm over her."
  • "I'm really curious as to how does she lives her life."
  • "Natasha doesn't have a wedding ring, I've never seen a picture of her husband [or] her daughter."
  • "We don't know anything about her husband, at all. I don't even know his name."
  • "'Her story has changed so many times. It's like, if you're going to lie, at least be good at it."

Is she manipulative and fake â€" or even leading a double life? And did Tyra Banks and company keep her around for another week? Follow the link to continue reading our recap of America's Next Top Model...

Brittany Hatch, Latest Top Model Castoff, Shares Her Thoughts

Hatch a PlanThe five remaining runway wannabes competing on the 8th season of America's Next Top Model continued to learn aspects of the modeling industry beyond the catwalk during Wednesday night's broadcast of The CW reality TV show.

In the end, Brittany Hatch, a 21-year-old bartender from Savannah, Ga., got bounced as she realized a pretty face and fabulous frames does not a model make.

"I'm going to miss the whole experience. I mean, I'm just happy that I got it," said Brittany.

"There's a lot of girls out there that wish they could have this experience and it's a great opportunity and it's been a lot of fun."

Top Model 8's newest episode found the five girls in Sydney, Australia as they returned to their apartment following the elimination of Jael Strauss, a 22-year-old band manager from Detroit, Mich., at the last judging panel.

Renee Alway, 20, a stay-at-home-mom from Maui, thought it'd be "so strange" without Jael and said she thought it was unfair that Jael Strauss was eliminated instead of Brittany, who were both the previous panel's bottom two.

"Brittany used her short-term memory as a crutch in panel," said Renee. "I feel like it was unfair that Jael goes home." While Brittany agreed "it sucks" Jael went home, she also boasted how she knew she was safe because she seemed to "be doing a lot better at the photo shoots" then Jael.

"I really wanted Brittany to go home because when we did that skit with [Tia Mowry], Brittany was all excited about acting. She knew every line word for word," said Dionne Walters, a 20-year-old college student from Montgomery, Ala., remembering how Brittany's supposed lack of short-term memory wasn't a hindrance during a previous challenge.

America's Next Top Model Recap: Four Fresh-Faced Faces Left

Enough about Tyra Banks and Isiah Thomas.

Today, we're all about business. Top Model business.

Dionne is Done For

In lieu of the America's Next Top Model clip show that ran last week, there should have been a public service announcement for the benefit of the remaining contestants proclaiming:

"This. Is. Not. The. Time. To. Flake. Out."

Of the five who were still in it as this episode began, Brittany, at least, had certainly lost it.

But was it her who got the ax in the end? Or was it Renee, Dionne (pictured) or Natasha? As the drama unfolded, our staff couldn't believe the developments.

America's Next Top Model: A Recap of a Recap, and Looking Ahead

We love any reality show. Maybe you noticed.

If you don't believe us, try this on for size: we've even gone so far as to recap a recap episode of America's Next Top Model.

Don't you love (hate) that these recap shows are inexplicably thrown in mid-season to get everyone caught up and tease you with "bonus" footage? It's worthless, and yet you have to watch.

Hey, at least we got to see clips of the vanquished Jael Strauss again... and there's always Tyra Banks' fine booty.

But we disgress. We've summed up the current season of Top Model and you can catch up on all the action - as well as our surprise favorite to win the competition - by clicking here...

Meet Jael Strauss, America's Next Top Oddball... Er, Model

 Weird Beyond Her Years
Kristine Lefebvre
, she's not. But she left her mark on the reality TV landscape just the same.

Whether you liked laughing with or at America's Next Top Model contestant Jael Strauss, TV Guide believes (and we concur) that the show is going to be less interesting now that the trippy hippie has been sent back to her home planet â€" Detroit.

Whether the self-proclaimed "spreader of light," who was booted off on last week's show, was vowing to protect the innocent from "the evil ducks of the universe," doffing her bra for a voluntary girl-on-girl photo shoot, or delivering a David Lynchian monologue in her trademark marble-mouthed way ... she was something else. That's for sure.

Naturally, her reaction to her ouster was equally unique. So, as you brace yourself for tonight's episode, perhaps you'll enjoy spending a few more moments with the 22-year-old America's Next Top Model wannabe who remains weird beyond her years.

TVGuide.com: Well, in all honesty, I'm not sure how I'm going to continue watching the show without you on it!
Jael: Oh, really? Well, one day I'm going to have my own show, and you'll be able to watch me on that! I really want to do a show that uncovers all the unsigned bands and underground artists. I really want to expose all those great groups, like the Burning Man community.

TVGuide.com: That's perfect for you! There's definitely some rock 'n' roll in you.
Jael: Yeah... and some hip-hop!

TVGuide.com: Speaking of hip-hop, let's go back to the night of that infamous Smart Water party. What was going on with you and 50 Cent? Why did you keep getting in his face until he finally pushed you in the pool?
Jael: Everything you see is not everything that happened. Actually, the girls kept coming over to me and saying, "50 wants to talk to you," because he would send them over. And then I'd go back over and talk to him, and then he'd be like, "Didn't I tell you to leave me alone?" I guess he was intimidated. My personality was too much for him.

TVGuide.com: I would have expected you two to have a lot of fun together.
Jael: It was fun. I poured Smart Water all over his head!

TVGuide.com: Were you irritated that Sanjaya Malakar kind of stole your thunder by getting eliminated from American Idol on the same night as you?
Jael: No way! No one steals my thunder. I relate to Sanjaya, actually. I think he was there because of his energy and not so much his talent, and I can relate to that. You know, I did my best and I gave it all the energy I could possibly give, but at the same time...

America's Next Top Model Recap: Aussie You Later, Jael

Last week's episode saw us bid farewell to Whitney.

This week's America's Next Top Model proved equally dramatic.

According to Entertainment Weekly's recap, all began with a visitor: April, from cycle two. She's been working as a travel correspondent, it seems, and had come to relay the message that she is way smarter than the cycle 8 girls.

Natasha

Okay, so she didn't actually say that, but her togetherness (minus the nasty purple sequined number) spoke volumes as she tried to teach the girls how to conduct interviews.

This America's Next Top Model veteran's advice? Shoot for a vibe that falls between being a chatterbox and curling up into a ball. But the girls, as April might've said, looked like deer caught in headlights.

When the girls gave the interview tactics a try on each other, the fun almost turned into a major brouhaha over who's going to win Top Model.

As Natasha said of Dionne and Jael, "When I look at them, I imagine two cats ready to jump on each other."

Apparently, April taught them all she knows about being a correspondent â€" except for the important stuff, like "Don't be combative."

All of the girls still think looking pretty is their ticket to win.

Communicating with others is last on their list of priorities â€" even though Jael, using her trademark punctuated speech, claimed otherwise.

"I. Think. I'm. Really. Good. At Speaking. With. Other. Human. Beings."

She sounds like freaking Napoleon Dynamite.

After a night of playing around in the pool (ooooooga), the girls were greeted the following day by a bouncing Tyra Banks - decked out in a cute kangaroo costume no less.
