Episode Guide
We love us some reality TV.
Even enough to do episode guides about the "recap" episodes that are inexplicably thrown in mid-season to get everyone caught up on and to broadcast some never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes footage.
Is this footage held out deliberately for this reason? Or are the clips just not good enough to make it into a regular episode?
It varies. In the case of America's Next Top Model, the recaps cater to those who can't get enough information on the series. There's just not a lot of information you miss on a weekly basis that you can't read on the Internet later, or during the show's many re-runs.
That being said, the Scoop staff was happy to get to relive the near fight between Wholahay and the model formerly known as the Antichrist.
We miss Jael Strauss already.
So far in Season 8 (sorry, "Cycle" 8), all of the models have undergone a pretty significant transformation. But the one who has come the furthest - and may even be a favorite to win - has to be Natasha.
Originally presented as naive, mouthy, and annoying and with a Russia-sized sense of entitlement, she's turned out to be surprisingly endearing and out of everyone on the reality TV hit, she's the most eager and willing to put herself out there and push the envelope - no small feat on a modeling show.
The best example of this? Natasha as the thuggish ganga. Her portrayal of the character was spot on, which all the more amazing when you recall how new to American culture the girl is.
She also suffered a third degree burn on her ear and had a tooth pulled (no medicine, thanks) without using either as an excuse. So much for her being a prima donna and drama queen.
Heck, had such a burn or dental issue happened to someone like Brittany or Renee, well, let's just say we'd hear about nothing else for 40 minutes on Wednesday night.
All told, Natasha may darn well come out on top this cycle. Not to take anything away from Dionne, Renee, Brittany, or Jaslene, who are all still in the running towards becoming America's Next Top Model.
SCOOP NOTE: We know you know what show it is. But someone at Top Model is obsessed with branding, because host Tyra Banks must utter the show's name at least 20 times per episode.
The remaining contenders have all done a great job in their own way this season, and the judges - Banks, Jay Manuel, J. Alexander et. al., proved why they're respected in the biz for picking this final five.
Of all the departed girls (sorry Whitney), none have really stood out. Alright, that's enough recapping. We can't wait until next week when we can delve back into an all new episode. Hard.
