Carrie Underwood to Perform on American Idol Finale

Will Kris Allen or Adam Lambert be crowned the eighth American Idol?

Either way, the show's fourth-ever champion will be on hand to see the results.

On Tuesday night, Carrie Underwood will return to the stage that made her famous to sing her version of Mötley Crüe's "Home Sweet Home."

The beautiful singer will donate a portion of the sales of the “Home Sweet Home” digital single to The Humane Society of the United States, which benefits abused and abandoned animals around the country.

American Idol Elimination: Danny Gokey

Danny Gokey has a great voice and a touching personal story.

But his consistently solid, albeit unspectacular, American Idol performances weren't enough to propel the singer into next week's finals; he was eliminated last night.

Danny Gokey Performance

In the video montage that played at the conclusion of the show, Gokey reflected on his journey (which, sadly, included his wife passing away just weeks before his initial audition):

"It's almost like a fairy tale story.  You read about tragedies, and then you read about the triumph that comes through it - and I'm that person. This whole experience feels like a dream come true.  American Idol has given me a whole new hope for my life."

So, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert will go head-to-head on the finale. Who do you think should win?

Adam Lambert Performance of the Week: "Cryin"

For the first time this season, Adam Lambert may not have given the best American Idol performance.

That honor likely belongs to Kris Allen this week, following a unique, incredible version of Kanye West's "Heartless."

Still, Lambert shined as always. Kara DioGuardi summed it up by telling him: "We'll see you at the finals."

Watch him belt out the Aerosmith classic "Cryin" below:

Simon Cowell Forecasts Adam Lambert Victory

Every week, Simon Cowell is the voice of reason on American Idol.

Based on his prediction yesterday on The Oprah Winfrey Show, we think (and sincerely hope) the judge is speaking the truth once again.

Asked about who would win this season, Cowell pointed to Adam Lambert as the clear favorite.

“He’s got that ‘it,’” Simon told Oprah. “He’s got swagger.”

Simon Cowell Such a Talent

Britain’s Got Talent contestant Susan Boyle was also featured on yesterday's show.

Cowell wished her “best of luck” in that competition, but also warned: “She’s got to sing better than she’s ever sung before,” if she wants to win.

Allison Iraheta: American Idol Exit Interview

All it took was one less-than-stellar performance for Allison Iraheta to be voted off American Idol.

The talented young singer was sent home this week, and she appears to be dealing with the elimination better than many of her fans. Here are excerpts from her exit interview with Entertainment Weekly:

On getting credit from the judges: I mean, I don't know. I honestly don't know. It was weird. Sometimes I would get criticized for what I would wear and I'd be like, Wait. What about the way I sang? But I guess this whole thing is about a package and they want to see you as a recording artist. It's all for the best, though.

On expectations
: I never really thought I'd get that far. It was too much for me. I had confidence issues in the beginning and then I gained confidence throughout the show. I guess I thought I had a chance because I'd made it to the top 4. But you know, things happen for a reason. Chris Daughtry left as number four too.

On Adam Lambert
: Yeah, we're really close. I feel like he's my older brother and I can go to him and tell him anything. Beyond music he's such a great person. All of them, Kris and Danny too. When we did ''Slow Ride'' it was so fun. We heard they were doing duets and we immediately decided the two of us had to do something. Adam came up with ''Slow Ride'' and I was like, ''Heck yeah, let's do it!''

Allison Iraheta, Disco Night

American Idol Elimination: Allison Iraheta

This makes us sad.

After the judges refused to criticize Danny Gokey for a weak performance on Monday night - one that he said he "laughed" over afterwards - viewers followed the panel's words like sheep to the slaughter, as they sacrificed Allison Iraheta in the name of the inevitable Gokey/Adam Lambert final.

In all honesty, American Idol never seemed more rigged than it did this week. You deserved better, Allison.

The men moved on this week, as Allison Iraheta was sent packing.

Adam Lambert Performance of the Week: "Whole Lotta Love"

A week after somehow falling into the bottom two on American Idol, Adam Lambert bounced back in a major way last night.

The singer performed a Led Zeppelin original, "Whole Lotta Love," as that title also described how the judges felt about Lambert rendition. Randy Jackson said it should put to rest talk that Adam is somehow a one-note Broadway performer.

Watch and critique for yourself:

Matt Giraud Speaks on Dreams, Plans

Matt Giraud was eliminated from American Idol this week.

But the aspiring singer has no regrets, as he never he dreamed of winning the competition.

"I never came in wanting to be the American Idol. My dream was to play that piano on that stage. My dream was to sing jazz on that stage. My dream was to meet the mentors. That was like dreams come true for me," Giraud said in an interview this morning.

Giraud and Lambert

As for the crooner's upcoming plans?

"I would love to get on the road and maybe open up for a band after the [American Idol summer tour] - maybe like the Fray or Gavin DeGraw and just pay my dues in the music industry. And I'd like to get more into some soulful rock with a twist of blues on it. I'd love to see myself as a lead man with a piano and a band around me."

American Idol Bids Farewell to Matt Giraud

Matt Giraud was voted off American Idol last night.

But the elimination of this Justin Timberlake wannabe was hardly the biggest news of the night.

Indeed, our jaws are still hurting, considering how hard they hit the floor when Adam Lambert was included in the bottom three vote-getters. As Paula Abdul rightfully said: "This is crazy!"

Fortunately, it wasn't nearly as crazy as she is, as America did at least give Giraud the boot over Lambert. But, come on, people. Don't scare us like that.

Goodbye, Matt Giraud

As for Giraud, he showed class and appreciation after he was eliminated.

"I'll definitely remember being the cat with nine lives up here," said the singer.  "It's definitely not the last time you'll see me."

Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai Eliminated from American Idol

Lil Rounds possessed a great voice, but lacked originality.

Anoop Desai possessed a silly name and fun personality, but lacked true vocal talent.

As a result, each of these finalists were eliminated from American Idol last night.

Upon the elimination of Rounds, Ryan Seacrest referred to her as "one of the most courageous contests" and added: “We need someone like you in this competition."

Not anymore, apparently.

Anoop Desai

Looking pretty in pink, Anoop Desai's disco performance was his last on American Idol.
