Earlier today, we reported that Maksim Chmerkovskiy was excited to team up with Debi Mazar on season nine of Dancing with the Stars.

That may be true, but it turns out he wasn't that excited to marry fellow professional Karina Smirnoff. The pair has broken up.

The couple got engaged on New Year's Eve, but never actually seemed too keen on walking down the aisle. Asked about plans for the wedding a few weeks ago, Smirnoff said:

"The only thing we've decided on is next year in June. We were supposed to pick the place, but we've never actually had the time to go further."

Now, however, comes word from Karina's rep, courtesy of E! News: "I am confirming that they did indeed break up."

The new season of Dancing with the Stars kicks off on September 21.

To the delight of female viewers, Maksim Chmerkovskiy will be featured on it. The handsome professional is teamed with actress Debi Mazar and, as he told TV Guide, Maksim is very happy about that.

Here are excerpts from his interview with the magazine:

On Mazar: She's doing great. We're having fun. Well, we're having a lot of fun. She's really funny. She talks a lot. The energy's great. I think 50 percent of the accomplishment is how you can get along because it's a really long season and you want to spend it with somebody you're cool with. From the past seasons, we know the audience also likes the banter, the personalities who get along and show fun and excitement.

On possible dark horses: Donny Osmond — he has a fanbase that's so massive that he doesn't even need to dance, period. I think he'll do great. He's a great entertainer. Also, people like him bring popularity to the show and we all have a job! [Laughs] Kym [Johnson, Osmond's partner] and the types of dances she does, it will be fun watching him do them.

Mya — Dmitry [Chaplin, Mya's partner] will hopefully be able to pull it out of her. I think Mark Dacascos, on paper, is great. I remember watching him doing his thing with Jet Li. He could be one of the dark horses people don't think about. I think Debi will be great. [She could be] a dark horse too.

In the wake of her possible soulmate's murdering of his wife, Megan Hauserman has had a tough time of it recently.

Indeed, the reality TV star has been in hiding ever since Ryan Jenkins murdered Jasmine Fiore and then hung himself in a hotel room.

But Hauserman finally broke her silence this week, speaking to People about the tragedy (while hosting a party in Las Vegas, of course).

"It's been a very challenging time," she said. "I'm happy to move forward at this point. It's been a very upsetting, sad, tragic situation that nobody could have expected."

For Megan, has starred in a record five reality shows, is content to work with animal rescue charities, travel and chill with pals in order to move on from the events of the past month. 

But, don't worry: she'll be back on reality TV soon!

"I want to continue doing TV work. I really enjoy being on TV and I love my fans."

And fame and money, of course. She really loves fame and money.

Prospects appeared slim for the former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, after she was dumped by Mesnick on national TV in favor of Molly Malaney.

But Melissa overcame this heartbreak and found love with Tye Strickland. In fact, the engaged couple has set a wedding date: December 12!

"We aren't doing much. I think small, we plan small," said Rycroft. "But whether it's going to turn out the way we have it in our minds, I don't know!"

The Real Housewives of New York City star bared it all for PETA during a photo shoot earlier this week. She then spoke to TV Guide Magazine about being the star of the organization's latest “I’d rather go naked than wear fur” ad campaign.

Here's what she had to say:

On getting naked: I think it’s a really amazing cause. It’s very simple to say to people, “You get to make a choice, and you can choose not to wear fur. It’s such a frivolous thing to do, and I used to do it. I wasn’t a crazy fur-wearer, certainly - I couldn’t afford it and I’m not that outlandish - but it really is so superfluous.

On other Real Housewives franchises: Atlanta’s my favorite... my show included. It is! I think it’s great. [Kim Zolciak] is like Jessica Rabbit on crack... I can’t stop watching her. She doesn’t edit herself, and I find her an absolute caricature, trash-tastic.

On Kelly Bensimon: It’s funny, because I didn’t really [feel I got] into it with her before. I just asked her a couple of questions and then looked quizzically into her face. It was a very quiet throwdown, because there wasn’t that much conversation. If I interact with her, will the audience be shocked at how on a different planet she is? Very, very possibly. You never know what’s going to happen when I have a conversation with her, because she may not even know we were having a conversation.

Not even a murderer can keep Megan Hauserman away from reality TV.

Just weeks after it was revealed that Ryan Jenkins, a contestant that made it far on Megan Wants a Millionaire, killed his wife and then himself, the perpetual reality star has been booked on yet another program.

“VH1 is giving Megan her own reality show,” an insider told Radar Online. "They promised Megan her own show... that’s how they bought her silence.”

Silence over what? Jenkins brutally killed wife Jasmine Fiore and then took his own life; VH1 has already admitted it didn't run a proper background check on the guy.

Hauserman, meanwhile, has already appeared on Beauty and the Geek; Rock of Love; I Love Money; and Rock of Love: Charm School.

No word yet on the former of her upcoming new show. We somehow doubt it will be another dating competition.

Derek Hough has two points to make about a pair of Dancing with the Stars contestants, each of which may surprise viewers:

1. Tom DeLay is a fun dude;
2. Joanna Krupa is not a bitch.

Speaking to E! News, the handsome hoofer said:

"Some people who you think are going to do great, you see them and you think, 'Wow, they're not as good as I thought.' Or some people like Tom DeLay, might come out here and rock everyone's world.

"I met [DeLay] the other day and he has so much charisma. He's just this lively guy. Sometimes that alone can do wonders for you."

As for Krupa, Hough's model of a partner, he wants her to relax.

"She's all worried that people are going to think she's a big bitch," Hough said. "But for me, she's not at all. She's very very sweet... The models always kind of have that stiff thing going on and not being able to loosen up. But she's working it out and doing good."

Dancing with the Stars premieres on ABC on September 21.

The Hills returns for a fifth season September 29, and when it does, so much drama will be going down, it will be off the proverbial chain.

Following a few weeks of supposedly contentious contract negotiations, filming got underway today on the new season of The Real Housewives of New York City.

Said a show insider: "The ladies wanted more money, and they're getting it.... Bravo was happy to up their pay since the show makes more money now. The Housewives just had an issue with some of the wording in the contract."

Meanwhile, rumors of a Bethenny Frankel spin-off aren't dead, apparently.

"Bethenny is getting her own show and she may be off Housewives for good come the season after next," said the source.
