Dancing With the Stars to Honor Patrick Swayze

Patrick Swayze, who passed away this week at the age of 57, appeared on the first season of Dancing with the Stars. He showed up for an episode and helped friend John O’Hurley learn a few moves.

Therefore, in honor of the actor, the ABC series will honor his memory on September 23.

“We have some very fond memories of [the late actor] coming to help us our when we were a tiny little show way back when,” said producer Conrad Green. “He was one of the few people to integrate dance with being an A-list actor. He inspired many people and many of our pros to dance. We want to honor the great moments he’s brought to film by getting our dancers to do their interpretation to some music from his films.”

Mark Ballas Totally Crushed on Melissa Joan Hart

Mark Ballas is partners with Melissa Joan Hart on the new season of Dancing with the Stars.

The pairing makes the professional think back to his younger days, when he totally crushed on the young actress.

“I said to my mom, my dad, ‘Don’t talk to me, I’m watching Clarissa,” Ballas said of his daily schedule, which was planned around Hart's TV shows. “I was little, I was 12, 13, and I was like, ‘She’s really cute.’”

How does he feel about Hart now? Ballas is certainly digging the duo's season nine prospects.

“It’s having the will to want to learn and she definitely has that,” he told People. “And she’s improved so much since we started. She said it’s been a dream of hers to be a dancer, and that is a dream that’s coming true.”

Sheree Whitfield: Not Friends with Co-Stars, Not Dating

This won't come as a shock to anyone that watches The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Sheree Whitfield is not exactly BFFs with anyone on the Bravo series.

She told E! News this week about NeNe, Kim and company:

"It's just a working relationship. We all have our different things that we're doing. We're not friends, but we are cordial."

As for her personal life? Sheree said she really doesn't have one these days.

"I've really been focusing in on this. I haven't had time to go out and for dating. I've been working so hard... I'm not looking, but if someone comes around tonight, that would be great."

Paula Abdul Wishes Ellen DeGeneres the Best of Luck

In a shocking move, American Idol announced a new fourth judge yesterday: comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

Following fan and critic reaction, viewers started to wonder how Paula Abdul - who resigned her post in August when she could not reach a contract agreement with the show - would react to the news. She isn't exactly the most stable person on the planet, after all.

But Abdul Tweeted the following message late yesterday, show grace, humility and poor spelling:

"I think Ellen will b a gr8 judge on Idol. She is wildly funny, talented and I wish her the best of luck!"

Totally Nuts

Last year's new judge, Kara DioGuardi, also reacted well to the Ellen news. She said:

"She's somebody who loves music, she's positive, she loves kids... She is somebody who has watched the show from the beginning, knows everything there is to know about American Idol and I think ultimately it's going to be a great new energy."

We'll find out when the series returns in January.

Tim Gunn to Pen New Fashion Book

Tim Gunn accomplishes something very impressive each week on Project Runway and on Tim Gunn's Guide to Style:

He discusses high-end fashion without coming across like a pompous ass.

For that reason, we're excited over the news that the style guru will be releasing a new book next year. It will be titled "Gunn's Golden Rules: Life's Little Instructions to Making It Work." It's the follow up to his 2007 best-seller "Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste and Style."

In a recent interview with Fox News, Gunn said:

"There are three key elements to getting your fashion right and they are silhouette, proportion, and fit," Gunn said. "It has nothing to do with a particular label or its textile or its price, it's those three elements.  And it's true for women and it's true for men as well."

His new book will come out in June 2010.

Check each out now and let us know who you're cheering for when Dancing with the Stars returns on September 21:

Ellen DeGeneres to Take Over for Paula Abdul on American Idol

Many critics disparage American Idol for not being an actual singing competition.

The latest show news isn't bound to change their point of view: the series has tapped Ellen DeGeneres to replace Paula Abdul as the permanent fourth judge.

Over the first round of auditions, singers such as Victoria Beckham and Mary J. Blige have served as guest judges alongside Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson. But they're keeping a seat warm for Ellen when Idol moves to Hollywood.

Ellen

Simon Fuller, the creator and executive producer of American Idol, applauded his choice of Ellen:

"I could not be more excited to have Ellen join the American Idol family. Ellen has been a fan of the show for many years, and her love of music and understanding of the American public will bring a unique human touch to our judging panel. I can't wait for this next season to begin."

DeGeneres, who will continue to host her talk show, echoed that sentiment. Distancing herself from any sort of singing expertise, she said:

"I’ve watched since the beginning, and I’ve always been a huge fan... Hopefully, I’m the people’s point of view because I’m just like you. I sit at home and I watch it. I’m not looking at it in a critical way from the producer’s mind. I’m looking at it as a person who is going to buy the music and is going to relate to that person."

Paula Abdul could not come to a contract agreement with the show, bidding it farewell in August. Think Ellen is a good choice for her replacement?

The T.O. Show: Renewed for Season Two!

Note to Terrell Owens: Just shut up and go play football.

The controversial wide receiver has been suffering from an injured toe for most of the preseason. He makes his Buffalo Bills debut Monday night against the Patriots.

Still, the future NFL Hall of Famer will somehow find time to film another season of The T.O. Show, as VH1 has picked up this horrendous excuse for a reality program.

The network press release, announcing this decision, reads:

Hot on the heels of wrapping up his first season of The T.O. Show, VH1 has picked up Terrell Owens‘ option for a second go-around of his hit series.  It seems Terrell will have a successful career off the football field too as the The T.O. Show has been a ratings hit for VH1 with an average of over 1.5 million viewers per episode.

Kita Williams and Monique Jackson, Terrell’s two best friends as well as his marketing and publicity team, are also returning to the series.  In addition to molding Terrell’s image off the field they are also a formidable duo in his personal life that do their best to guide him in his personal life with sound sisterly advice.

“Terrell has been a great asset to the VH1 team and we’re thrilled to have him back for another season,” stated Jeff Olde, EVP Original Programming and Production, VH1.  “He is a compelling figure to watch both on and off the field and we hope to continue to watch his life evolve beyond football for many seasons to come.”
