Jake Pavelka Wants to Keep It Real

Countless cameras might surround him at all times, and there may be cue cards in front of him as he pretends to woo various single ladies, but Jake Pavelka doesn't care.

In a recent interview with TV Guide, the latest Bachelor says he plans on keeping everything on the show real. As we stifle fits of laughter, check out the pilot's exact quote:

"I'm going to go on there to be myself. In regards to the hot tub stuff, if I were to go in and meet a girl in Starbucks, date her, start getting really close and then jump into a hot tub with her with a swimsuit on, why not do that?

"I stressed to the producers that that's exactly what needs to happen this season: everybody being themselves. A lot of the dates and different activities we got to do on the show were geared around what I would do in my normal life — what dates scream Jake."

What about the show's awful track record when it comes to couples actually staying together? Jake said:

"You can have everything in common with somebody, the same goals, same values, same temperament, same dreams, and there's just not that indescribable magic spark that makes a relationship pop. So I didn't go in pushing. I knew everybody would be unbelievable, and they were, but I was waiting to see where that spark was going to be.

"The show does have a bit of a rough history, people breaking up or changing their minds, and that's OK. I tried to be very honest no matter how painful it was and I just remained really open-minded."

Sounds like ABC writers have trained Pavelka perfectly!

The Top Reality Show Moments of 2009

As has often been the case this decade, the past year was a memorable one in the world of reality TV.

Which moments, breakdowns and cat fights stood out the most? We could choose a great many, but settled on the selections below...

Teresa's Table Flip: The Real Housewives of New Jersey stole the spotlight from their nationwide counterparts this year. In the show's most exciting scene, Teresa Giudice flipped a table - and referred to Danielle Staub as a "prostitution-whore" - after the book "Cop Without a Badge" was brought out.

Ed Goes Impotent: Ed Swiderski seems like a nice fella and, let's face it, every guy has been here. But we wouldn't be doing our jobs if we didn't cite The Bachelorette moment when it was apparent Ed wouldn't be closing the deal with Jillian. "I was very nervous, and, uh, it just didn't happen," he later said.

Fortunately, Jillian would see past this occurrence and choose Swiderski as her contrived soulmate on the show's finale.

Speidi Gets Scared: It was almost a quiet year for Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, with the exception of their stint on NBC's I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!. After pining to leave, only to be allowed back by their castmates, Spencer and Heidi spent the night in the Lost Chamber.

A network executive claimed the duo "prayed quite vigorously" in there.

Wes Proves He's a Weasel: After denying he had a gifriend throughout The Bachelorette, Wes was voted off and showed his true colors when he admitted he only appeared on the show to boost his career.

At his elimination, he told the other guys he'd "be back home having lots of sex." You aren't a country music cliche at all, dude.

The Bachelor Spoilers: Greetings, Jillian and Ed!

On the January 4 premiere of The Bachelor, viewers are in for a surprise.

In a shocking development, Jake Pavelka struggles over which of the women to keep around for another week. Just kidding. That happens every episode.

But this does not: as one of the show's only successful couples (for now), Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski show up to offer Jake advice. To the contestants' credit, they act believably surprised. It's almost as if they forgot this storyline was outlined in the week's script.

Natalie White Speaks on Survivor Victory

To the chagrin of Russell Hantz, and millions of viewers, Natalie White was named the winner of Survivor: Samoa this week.

While we appreciate her looks (below), White simply rode Hantz's scheming coattails for 39 days. Below, she speaks on her controversial win in an interview with People:

On her strategy: Survivor is a social game and you have to assess who you’re playing with so quickly. From the first day I assessed every person on my team, and then at the merge, I assessed each one of the Galu players and got to know them extremely quickly.

Natalie White

On eliminating Russell early on: I actually had a possible women’s alliance working in the background but nothing ever came to fruition because I was loyal to Foa Foa first and foremost and I never solidified anything with the Galu girls and had I solidified anything, I’m not so sure that I would have gotten their votes. I was very careful not to solidify anything until the timing was right but the time never came because things kept working out for Foa Foa, so I never thought they felt betrayed by me. I developed wonderful bonds.

On plans for her prize money: I’ll go on vacation with my boyfriend because he took such good care of me and nursed me back to health. I would like to save money.

Monica Danger Speaks on Hospitalization, Mental Problems

It's easy to laugh at contestants on For the Love of Ray J, but events surrounding Monica Danger these days are far from funny.

The season one finalist gave birth to a daughter a few months ago, only to end up in a psychiatic hospital after having a reported breakdown.

Citing postpartum depression for her issues, Danger opened up to VH1 recently about her issues. Excerpts of the interview are below...

On her supposed breakdown: I don’t like the word “breakdown,” because it suggests weakness. I’m not a weak person, I’m very strong. I just went through something, and now I’m healing. I didn’t know how much pain I was in, because I keep a lot of things inside. I’m not keeping things inside anymore. I cut my hair so I could start a new life. I’m reborn as a different person, and I’m focusing on being the best mom I can be.

When you get famous, people try to tear you apart, and I’m very famous right now. I’m just focusing on being around positive people and being a good mother. All the publicity and the Internet and all that will kill you if you let it. My fans, and everybody, shouldn’t believe the things on the Internet that they say about me, unless I’m saying it. There’s that much jealousy. People want me to fail, and I’m not going to fail. I’ve never failed. I’m a person who wins.

Everything I want to do, I do. I achieve things. Just because I had a moment where I was dealing with some problems through postpartum depression, it does not mean that I won’t continue to succeed in my life, no matter what I do.

Monica Danger

On her improvement: So many people have oppressed me and hurt me that I felt like this could happen at any time. I can’t be that person anymore. I have a daughter. I want to be a mom. I want to have more children and be married and happy. As soon as I’m able to be all the way better, negative thoughts won’t cross my mind.

On abandoning the nickname "Danger:" I’ll always be Danger. She’s part of me. She’s my creation. Since I was 19, I’ve been that person. But I have control. I can control who I am. I’ve playing Danger for a long time. And I’m tired of playing Danger.

Jake Pavelka: I Believe in The Bachelor!

Jake Pavelka is the ideal Bachelor: he's handsome, successful and clearly willing to read from whatever script ABC places in fromt of him.

Case in point: during an interview with The New York Post, the airline pilot was asked if he believes in falling in love on reality TV. After all, pretty much every single Bachelor-related couple has broken up.

"I don’t understand why more haven’t worked out," he replied. "They make it possible to completely ignore the camera. They don’t put you in weird situations. They've never said “Can you retake this?” or “Can you say this?” Everything was realistic."

Right. Totally realistic. Like this impromptu football game that breaks out between Jake and his suitors on the show's season premiere.

André Leon Talley Added to America's Next Top Model Judging Panel

After a series of guest judges on cycle 13 of America's Next Top Model, the reality competition has found a new panelist going forward.

Vogue Editor-at-Large André Leon Talley has officially been named the show's fourth judge. He's held his position at the magazine since 1998.

A disgruntled Paulina Porizkova was let go as a judge on America's Next Top Model earlier this year. Prior to that, Janice Dickinson held the post for five years.

Bethenny Frankel: Naked for PETA

Is it just us, or will more men buy fur as more beautiful women pose naked in an effort to end the practice?

Real Housewife of New York Bethenny Frankel is the latest attractive female to don her birthday suit in a PETA ad. As so many have before her, Frankel states:

I'd Rather Go Naked... than wear fur.

Frankel was actually knocked up, courtesy of Jason Hoppy, when this photo was taken.

"It's so tasteful and beautifully done," she told The New York Post. "I am especially pleased because it doesn't look like there's been any airbrushing and I was already pregnant when I shot it."

Kim Zolciak and NeNe Leakes: On the Way Out?

They're sort of friends again these days, but Kim Zolciak and NeNe Leakes are still creating controversy for The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

According to various sources, producers are considering replacing both spoiled brats, as "things with NeNe and Kim have been intense" on and off the set.

For example, insiders claim Kim and NeNe are demanding bigger paychecks from Bravo for a new season of the series, leaving producers "fed up with their diva-esque requests." We can't blame them.

Kim Zolciak and NeNe Leakes

A source adds that Bravo is aware of the risk it might take if it axes two of its most popular (or, at least, well-known) stars,  but "feels it is about the franchise as a whole and won’t let one person stop it.”

Reportedly, the network is actually in the process of talking with other wealth women in the area that could fill the void left by Zolciak and Leaks' departure.

What do you think, readers? Do you wanna see these women go? Do you even believe reports such as these, or are they merely more ways for the franchise to make headlines?
