Nearly lost in the shuffle after The Bachelor controversy surrounding Jason Mesnick, Melissa Rycroft and Molly Malaney was this awesome news: Jillian Harris - who finished in third place - will be the star of The Bachelorette!

"I am so excited," said Harris, 29, an interior designer from Canada, jokingly thanking Jason for giving her the chance to have 25 men compete for her.

"It's a very unorthodox way to find love, but we are living in a world where people are doing things differently," Jillian said. "It's a great opportunity."

"Seeing what Jason went through makes you realize there's no guarantees in life," Jillian Harris added. "I hope I make the right choice the first time."

Jillian also made one promise about the new season, referencing her hot scenes with Jason: "I don't need my dad to see any more hot tub scenes."

As The Bachelorette star, Jillian follows DeAnna Pappas, who of course rejected Jason Mesnick on The Bachelor finale after being left at the altar by Brad Womack on the previous Bachelor finale. This show rules.

The Bachelor and The Bachelorette host Chris Harrison said that Harris has "really captured America's heart and the groundswell of support for her to become the new Bachelorette was overwhelming."

Monday night's stunning "After the Final Rose" special of The Bachelor, in which Jason Mesnick dumped Melissa Rycroft for runner-up Molly Malaney, has sparked outrage, big ratings and plenty of unanswered questions.

Did the producers know? Did they script this whole thing? Did Molly know what was coming? Did Melissa? Why did Jason pull the switch?

The Bachelor host Chris Harrison is speaking out about the finale in an attempt to clear up some of the rumors going around. Here are his thoughts ...

They were shocked: "When we left New Zealand, we were high-fiving, thinking this is great, 'People are going to love this guy and love the story.' I talked to Jason Mesnick when we got back, and things were going great. And then the next thing I hear, the producers are saying, 'He wants another shot with Molly.' And I just said, 'You've got to be kidding me!' We were all blown away."

This was not staged: "People think we wanted to pull this stunt, but we didn't!" This isn't good for us. I mean, the ratings were insane and all that, but we would have much rather had him end up with Melissa and have them get married. In the long run, that's a better story for us and for the fans."

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting your season eight winner on American Idol: Lil Rounds!

Okay, that might be a bit premature. But just a bit.

The 23-year old mother of three blew viewers away last night with her rendition of Mary J. Blige's “Be Without You." Watch it for yourself:

It's safe to assume that Lil Rounds will have her ticket punched for the finals when results are announced tonight.

Who will join her there? Our best guesss are:

• Jorge Nunez, who broke down in tears and could only think/speak in Spanish after receiving universal praise from the judges for “Don’t Let the Sun go Down on Me” by Elton John;
• And Scott MacIntyre. Dude is legally blind! He oozed with emotion and talent during performance of “Mandolin Rain” by Bruce Hornsby.

Upon her elimination from For the Love of Ray J last night, Lil’ Hood said: “I’m a real f***ing bitch. I keep it real."

And that, in a nutshell, is why we love this show.

Former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants are slamming Jason Mesnick for dumping fiancee Melissa Rycroft for Molly Malaney on Monday's season finale.

On his Facebook page, Andy Baldwin wrote: "Andy is glad when he was the Bach. He was a man and didn't sell his soul and cave. Such a sellout."

Later, Baldwin posted another message re: the shocking Bachelor finale: "You do NOT break up on national television. That is the opposite of a gentleman."

Navy Lt. Andy Baldwin starred in The Bachelor: An Officer and a Gentleman in Season 10. He chose Tessa Horst but broke up with her a few months later.

Elsewhere, Trista Sutter - the only star to wed the person they chose on the show - was also shocked that Mesnick (who has a son, Ty, 4) would propose to one woman, introduce her to his child and then hook up with a new woman."

"How could you go from being engaged to someone, to kissing someone else on the couch?!" she fumed. "He doesn't deserve to walk away scot-free."

"What disappointed me as a mom is that he introduced both girls to Ty ... Melissa was around, and now she's gone. What is Ty going to think?"

First, Jason Mesnick broke the heart of Melissa Rycroft on national television during The Bachelor: After the Final Rose... and Before ABC Makes Millions of Rycroft Becoming The Bachelorette.

Now, another reality TV reunion is leading to scandal, as Megan Hauserman has sued Sharon Osbourne for an incident that took place during the Rock of Love: Charm School Reunion.

The former contestant says Osbourne went ballistic during athe taping, punching and grabbing her by the hair - and we've got the video to prove it! Osbourne opened up the attack after Hauserman told Sharon she was famous only because she managed a brain dead rock star. Ouch.

In a lawsuit filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Hauserman is suing Osbourne for battery, negligence and infliction of emotional distress.

Tonight on The Bachelor, Jason Mesnick finally made his choice on the season finale tonight, dropping down to propose to Melissa Rycroft of Dallas, Texas.

She accepted, and the rest is history ...

... or was, until less than an hour later.

That's when, in the "After the Final Rose" special, we learned that their engagement fell apart almost immediately - and moreover, he is now together with Molly Malaney, the runner-up he spurned in favor of Melissa on the final!

Did Jason Mesnick make the right call dumping Melissa Rycroft?

The Bachelor bids farewell to fans this week... WITH THE MOST DRAMATIC AFTER-THE-ROSE CEREMONY IN THE HISTORY OF CIVILIATION!!!.

But reality TV fans will barely have time to dry their tears when ABC kicks off the eighth season of Dancing with the Stars in its timeslot next week.
