Casting for the 13th season - sorry, 13th cycle - of America's Next Top Model is underway.
Here's the long and (mostly) short of it:
In a complete turnaround from the casting requirements of its first 12 cycles, the reality competition is requiring contestants to be 5'7" or under. Tell us why, self-serving host Tyra Banks:
"There have been top supermodels in the past that weren't as tall as the industry demands, like fashion icon Kate Moss. So we are changing up Top Model for cycle 13 and making it a year for the shorter model!"
In addition to the height requirement, those interested in applying for the series must be between the ages of 18 and 27; and be of "diverse backgrounds, shapes and sizes," according to The CW.

I think this is a wonderful opertunity. I have no desire to be a model, yet i am five one in a half, and do not forget the half. I have the hardest time finding close to really fit me. Pants are way to long i always have to him them. And the petite section lack fashion variety.

Hi my name michelle galan and I have apply to be in the casting for cycle 13. Am 51 and weight 105. Yesterday March 13,2009 I went to NY and I stood in line from 10am to 6pm till some bad happen. Every body chance for trying out was over. My dreams for trying out was ruined but one thing I can say is that this was an experience for me.

i think that tyra should make a.n.t.m for girls ages14-17 because i am 15 and i have always had dreams of being a model.

hey my name is jennifer but i prefer jenny i wanted to try out for antm so bad but am still in school and bearly going turn 17 in july and i am 5'6...this is so great that tyra does make people dreams come true by letting short models try out but i guess am going to have to wait till next year when am 18,hopefully she is still casting for short models. Love you TYRA and keep casting for short models for few more years... thanx=]
