Personally, I admire Spencer. He's a go-getter, maybe a bit opportunistic, but aren't we all? And out of the entire cast he seems to be the most real, not some painted on, temporary façade. You can tell that it's the way he is behind closed doors and outside of them.
PS. Everyone is just biased. When LC was going through her ordeal Heidi did not abandon her. They're all generally fake though, they switch places like musical chairs. On the episode where Audrina showed up at the club with Spencer, Lauren and Heidi were against Audrina and ignored her. But now Audrina is like Lauren's rebound friend. When Lauren had that falling out with Jen Bunny, Heidi and Lauren both ignored and shunned her but after Heidi and Lauren's break up Jen Bunny became Heidi's rebound friend. Fake..

I don't know how much you know about television but I am an aspiring screenwriter and I have read books that will plainly tell you that drama is good for your characters, conflict causes drama and drama is good, no matter how much it displeases the viewer. The fact that the show has evoked this much hostility in ya'll proves that the show is doing its job. The show has earned your emotion, which is what every artist hopes to do with a project.
PS I'm still rooting for the underdog(Spencer)and laughing at you all for hating him, and I'm sure he's laughing too.
